Attention bargain-hunting Dopers: Upscale impedimenta retailer Brookstone is now offering a 10% discount on any purchase when the buyer turns in a men’s necktie, according to this press release. The “Tie-Died” promotion is linked to yesterday’s news that the trade group for the necktie industry plans to close today. The offer runs until June 15 and is good only at Brookstone stores.
What a perfect description. Much classier than overpriced crap merchant
I guess I’ll have to pass, because I didn’t claim the garbage bag of ties I found along the road. Yes I found a small garbage bag full of ties a few months ago by the roadside.
I recently bought the contents of a storage locker at an auction. Inside were 2 large boxes full of ties. 714 of them. Anybody want a tie?
On the one hand, I feel no disappointment in seeing ties go down. On the other hand, what will we get for our dads on Father’s Day?
Cheap cologne, of course, which probably will get about as much use as the ties.
Handkerchiefs. That’s what I always got my dad. Course he’s dead now so that isn’t going to work anymore.
I bought dad fishing gear. I never bought him a tie.
Ah, yes- Old Spice, Canoe, Hi Karate. Preferably in the boxed set with the soap-on-a-rope.
I am actually planning on hitting an old-school drug store to try and find that for my dad this year (I’m 40, BTW). It’ll be a big hit if I can pull it off.
