I did a search for “Bond” and came up bare. So in case it hasn’t appeared:
Actress Judith Dench, who plays M, told columnist Cindy Adams: “Despite the fact that everyone on the face of the earth has been tested as his possible replacement, Pierce (Brosnan) will be doing it again.”
I read that as well. I also heard his past comments about not doing the next Bond film was a ploy to get more money. The ploy backfired when he heard they were actively looking for the new face of Bond. Suddenly, Brosnan backed off and denied making any such comments. This might be the last Bond film he will do - but it is not like people are beating down his doors to do other projects, so we’ll see if he decides to do more in the future.
Brosnan has starred in seven films since 2001. He has three movies currently in production, making for a total of ten films in five years.
And those films aren’t all duds, either, The Thomas Crown Affair and The Tailor of Panama were both excellent films (and Brosnan is doing another Thomas Crown film right now). And, in my opinion he is the second-best Bond, after Sean Connery.
Brosnan isn’t quite an ‘A’ list actor, but he’s not far below the top rank.
