Typically I never buy organic lettuce, but a couple times when shopping at Whole Foods and not having time to make another stop, I’ve picked some up.
It seems like every time I purchase organic leaf lettuce, it’s covered with little brown spots. Now, I realize that regular lettuce is probably treated with some kind of chemical that keeps it looking nice, and the brown spots on organic might just be normal minor decay, but dang if it doesn’t kind of turn me off (kind of in the same way that the sometimes chemical flavor of regular lettuce turns me off, so why am I complaining, right?)
Anyway, are brown spots typical on organic leaf lettuces? What does your organic lettuce look like?
