What Windows browser do you use? I’ve got a new machine with Window Edge, and I’m wondering about the newest incarnations of Firefox, Chrome, Opera or what have you. Which one is fastest? Safest? Reliablest?
My current laptop came with Windows Edge, I mean, every windows box comes (came) with IE, now they come with Edge. Honestly, I couldn’t tell it was a browser. As I recall, something about it was missing and it felt like a PDF reader or something.
Anyway, I use Firefox. I’ve used it forever. I use it because I don’t care for Chrome, however, it really bogs down my work computer. I know I should switch over to Chrome, but there’s a few things about it that bother me that may very well be worked out by now.
TL;DR Firefox
I’ve been using Firefox since back when it was called Netscape. For a while there, it really consumed a lot of memory resources, but then they fixed it before I could really get fed up and switch. I haven’t seen any reason to switch since. I use it for mobile browsing too.
To be fair, most of the others are just fine. I remember when IE was straight up garbage, but that was a long time ago in computer history, and it works well now. Most of them have the same sorts of features, you just might need to learn a new way of accessing them if you switch.
I’m trying out the new Opera right now. It seems to be pretty fast, it has built in ad blocking and bitcoin mining blocking, and this forum looks pretty good on it.
I consider my browser to be a tool, not a toy., Im not interested in experimenting or learning new ones. I just use Firefox because I understand how to make it work for me efficiently. I can live with its weaknesses, because I don’t know what they are.
I use Chrome mostly because I use a lot of Google services and it integrates well.
I also think that Opera is a vastly underrated browser and would switch to it if Chrome no longer did the job for me.
well, not having joined the modern age of computing with winx, I still use explorer. It’s adequate for my needs. I use opera on my phone, having switched from the default chrome it came with since (that version) of chrome is really bad with the ad/spy/malware from google or google affiliates. Opera is much better. I tried firefox and tor for a while (torfox?) on my phone, but it was kinda sucky. I mean its great to have that level of security and all, if you never want to leave the house, so to speak.
I gave up on Firefox because it was such a memory hog. I hear it is better now, but I hold a grudge for a long time. So now I always have Chrome and Opera running. I need two because I have two different Gmail accounts (home and work) and need to be logged in to both at all times. I haven’t found a way to do that except with two different browsers.
ETA: I tried Edge when Win10 came out, but there is no way to do a Google search from the right-click menu! So out the door it went.
My wife and I do the same thing. When I/m on line, Im on Firefox, that’s where my passwords are remembered and my bookmarks are. When she is online, she’s on Chrome. Its like having two computers, except can’t both be on at the same time.
The best way to use two different accounts is to use a real mail client instead of a browser. I have my mail client set up to use four different accounts, and it’s far more convenient than even one account with a browser.
Chrome. Chrome has the best developer tools, which means that the developers like it more than all the others, so chances are stuff works better in Chrome because that’s what we’re all using to build all the things.
Also, it’s easy to work with; IE is notorious for being its own little snowflake.
