Sad.
He was surprisingly unheralded for his work.
The thing I remember most is that he played young Clemenza in “Godfather II” and then in “The Freshman” with Brando doing an imitation of (old) Vito from “Godfather I”. He also got to introduce Brando to John Gotti. That would have been something to have seen.
(He also was in a TV show in 1972 with Richard S. Castellano who played old Clemenza in “GF I”.)
Not having him in “City Slickers 2” is a sin.
He had a wider range then was generally acknowledged.
Real name: Bruno Giovanni Quidaciolu Jr.
And, just in case you didn’t know, son of Bruce Kirby.
You know, when you’ve loved and lost the way [del]Frank[/del] Bruno has, then you know what life’s about.
Farewell to our favorite limo driver.
Shit! Just…shit!
Gonna miss that voice.
I wonder if Mr. Zero knows.
I loved him in The Freshman. “Two espressos he says.”
“Baby Fish mouth Baby Fishmouth!!!”
“Now that’s as good a Polka as you’ll ever hear.”
I liked him, sad to hear he’s gone.
Damn, that sucks. I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone so hilariously unfunny as he was in “Good Morning Vietnam”.
p.s. Earl, I thought he was the son of Durwood Kirby! :smack:
Mr. Zero knew before we did.
I really liked him, especially in The Freshman. RIP.
“You made a woman MEOW??”
This is what I hear in my head whenever Bruno Kirby is mentioned. He was a great actor. Such a shame.
Actually, it was a blessing, since that movie was a POS from first to last.
His best day/worst day speech may be the highlight of the first film.
I hope he’s reunited with the wagon wheel coffee table. RIP.
Interstingly enough, Bruce played the part of Mr. Quidacioluo in Stand By Me.
Aw, that’s just awful news. I don’t think there was any film he did that I didn’t like him in.
The result of a falling-out with Billy Crystal if I remember correctly.
I heard the news earlier today and went to imdb.com and was reminded that he played Herbie in “Room 222”, which means I’ve loved his work since I was five years old.
RIP, baby fish mouth.
Spinal Tap!
I have a special fondness of him as the aide in Birdy, one of my all-time favorite films.
Bye Bruno, I’ll never forget your face and voice.
He’s stealing rugs with Jesus now.
One of my favourite actors and always a pleasure to see or hear him in something.
mm
I was just watching some of the Red Sox game, and just thought for the frillionth time about how much Terry Francona resembles Bruno Kirby, and then I saw this thread.
Eric Burns has written a hell of a eulogy for him.
