Bryce Dallas Howard and other chameleons

We watched the Netflix DVD of Hereafter (2010) last night and since the credits ran after the movie it was only then that I noticed that Bryce Dallas Howard was in the cast and I had to check the cast list with actor-role listings to see who she played!

My only other memorable experiences with her were the monstrosity that cured me of M. Night Shyamalan for good, The Village (2004), and perhaps a TV interview or red carpet thingie. In any case, her physical appearance was a surprise. I verified my basic impression that she looks different in almost every one of the photos of her at All Photos of Bryce Dallas Howard and became curious of:

a) Am I by myself in seeing her chameleon-like appearance?

b) Who else is that way for you?

I didn’t notice Tom Cruise in Tropic Thunder until the dance scene as the credits rolled.

I didn’t notice Christian Bale in “The Fighter” until I saw his name in the credits.

Cue 45 people mentioning the incorrect answer of Gary Oldman’s portrayal of the same character over and over.

Michelle Williams in the The Baxter, which I watched recently ( it’s okay - MW is the best thing in it ) really threw me off. She seemed familiar, but I couldn’t quite pin down who she was.

Damn! She looks like a child there.

Speaking of someone else who plays the same role all the time, I still cannot wrap my head around the fact that Billy Bob Thornton played Karl in Sling Blade.

Dracula + any other role he played.

My Mom always said Rod Steiger must be a great actor, because she was always seeing his name in the credits and thinking, “He was in this? Which one was he?”

I have tried a few times to see Tim Curry in “Legend”. I realize that’s a lot of make-up, but still!

I don’t know…his Drexl Spivey seems vastly different than his Commissioner Gordon.
