I clearly read that paragraph as in Vizzini’s voice.
Hey! I’d give Leoben a go if I had girlie parts. Probably Doral too, but I always thought he was the gay Cylon.
I also wonder if we’ll ever see Simon again. Even without an R-Hub, shouldn’t there still be a lot of Cylon models back in the colonies? It appeared they moved in pretty thoroughly. The actors must have other gigs.
Any chance we could agree to keep spoilers out of the thread title?
Right but Admiral Cain had no interest in breeding. She only considered the military angle and essentially left her breeding civilians to die.
Only if they go to the “dark side”…or buy a turkey baster…
If only the Clyons had heard of Bed Bath and Beyond. All this violence could have been prevented.
Yeah, Cain was faced with the same choice Adama had initially. Humanity is destroyed, so let’s take out as many of those bastards as we can before we die. Carry out the military mission to the end. Adama got stuck with that nagging Roslin and a civilian fleet to babysit, but it looked much more likely they could restart humanity. Adama was prepared to do exactly what Cain did, at first.
Cain didn’t really inherit a fleet, and didn’t feel she had much chance of restarting humanity, so breeding would be a pretty low priority. She probably required birth control for her personnel. That has nothing to do with her being lesbian, though. Being the Admiral was far more important to their situation than getting pregnant.
There aren’t any.
Count me in with those saying sexual orientation is just not important for the BSG population, at least not as shown. Gaeta’s kissing Hoshi was just a toss-in.
I can see your general point, but I disagree about the portrayal of Gaeta. I think his character remains sympathetic throughout the process; he’s angry and makes a terrible mistake, but it’s consistent with his character and, in many ways, quite understandable. He is, in fine BSG tradition, a remarkably realistic character.
Tom Zarek is a dirty bastard, but I thought Felix Gaeta a tragic hero. He always tried to do what he thought was right; at the end his judgment was clouded by the extremity of the situation. They had to shoot him, but he didn’t deserve to be shot, if you know what I mean. His end is certainly no more horrible than Anastasia Dualla, who just blows her own brains out or her skull out of depression.
At the risk of pointing out the obvious, can you tell me which characters AREN’T flawed? Really, the most standup guy is William Adama, who’s played by a Hispanic guy and who is portrayed as having a wide variety of personal problems. The female President is a scheming, corrupt politician who trusts her own religious fantasies more than any other human. The most prominent white guys are Dr. Gaius Baltar, who is an egomaniacal nutball, and Lee Adama, a moralistic prick who lathces onto ethics to avoid making judgmnents. The leading white (and straight) woman, Kara Thrace, is a mean bitch with more baggage than the belly of a 747. Other white, straight folk include an alcoholic robot (Saul Tigh, which basically makes him a less funny version of Bender) a big, violent jerk (Galen Tyrol) and a wide assortment of sociopathic robots. The only character who has no significant moral flaws is Karl Agathon, who makes up for it by being an idiot. I guess you could argue the various incarnations of Boomer/Athenas might be okay but frankly it’s hard to remember which is which.
I don’t really see Gaeta as being much worse than a lot of those folks. Laura Roslyn tried to fix an election. The white guy who gets the most tail, Baltar, is portrayed as a twice-guilty traitor and an utter scumbag. Are they really worse than Felix Gaeta?
Well, I agree everyone is flawed - even Helo my favorite - but not everyone who is flawed gets killed right after we find out they might be gay or bi. It’s a bit like you’re the black guy in a horror movie. Uh-oh, doomed.
But again, I’m not accusing Moore of homophobia.
Don’t forget Adama was planing on assassinating Admiral Cain. Gaeta tried to do what Adama didn’t have the guts for. Adam got lucky when the deranged Six killed Cain for him.
I just had to chime in to say… this is a hilarious but deadly accurate description of the cast of BSG. Bravo! Best chuckle of the day.
Calling it an “attempted” coup reveals that it failed.
Though how anyone could believe Adama would be permanently displaced escapes me.
I’ve always had the impression Tyrol was like 3-foot-4.
Aaron Douglas is 6’, according to IMDB, and built like a brick shithouse.
I am truly shocked by that.
Which anyone who has bothered to watch last week’s episode already knows.
Moore and Eick have refused to follow space-opera convention pretty insistently. Don’t be surprised by anything.
