My Fiancee and i are in the process of moving and are wraping our “Delicates” in paper and bubble -wrap, which led me to the following:
Which way is bubble-wrap most effective? Bubbles in (Against the item they are protecting)? Or bubbles out (Standing true against all that want to bash our precious “Delicates” as the movers heave them to and fro)?
I haven’t slept in days (Not because of this, but it adds dramatic effect)>
…It’s bubbles in, it’s always bubbles in. That way the soft bubbles gently hold and caress your fragile things, and the flat part on the outside makes stacking items in boxes easier, otherwise the bubbles will interlock with each other.
On another note, I got a package, a book, oddly, wrapped in what must be the ultimate bubble wrap, something called ‘flo-pak Cell-o’ air cushions. They measure about 7 1/2 inches by 3. I was admiring a set of three, twisting it in my hand, not realizing that Mrs.Larson and two of the cats were in the next room. POW!!! Two cats and the Mrs. are flying through the air, all headed toward me with claws out.
With bubbles out, you can still ding your delecates if a pointy object lands between the bubbles (the dreaded “no-bubble-zone”; shall we call it the NBZ?). This, of course, applies if you use only one layer of wrap.
With bubbles in, there is no dreaded NBZ – no weak spot in your bubble armor, so to speak.
At my job (I’m a custom picture framer) we have bubble wrap triangles that go on the corners of frames to protect them in storage. The bubbles are on the inside.
