What’s your beef? Did DDG do something to piss you off, or is this the equivalent of a kindergartner yelling “tattletale”? So what if DDG is not a moderator? These boards frequently rely on consciencious members pointing out problems to moderators to ensure a quick review, instead of letting those problems languish until a mod can find them on their own. What exactly did DDG do wrong, in your opinion? Point out that multiple registrations aren’t allowed? Or threatening that jennygerbi could be banned for doing so?
And yes, we have moderators to take care of these things, but don’t forget that the moderators were all once regular posters just like you and I. I will point out that before Arnold Winkelried became Moderator Extraordinaire of Cecil’s Columns, he was merely a prolific poster with a penchant for posting links to the columns. He only got his job when JillGat stepped down and needed a replacement, and he was already doing a lot of the work anyway. In fact, I’d wager he wins that award, or at least was the title-holder before actually becoming a mod.
For the record, I will state that in this case DDG was not just an objective observer, but was already involved in a somewhat spirited exchange with jennygerbi. I will also point out that in this case DDG did leap to a conclusion. If you read the linked thread, you can see that I was the one to identify the source of the confusion. Does that ge me a nomination for the award? How about starting this thread for Arnold - does that count?
I liked that fact that in the original thread, BuddhaDog followed the sarcastic slam at DDG with a lame mistake about thinking Cecil could time travel!
