Ok, what is up with everybody? No one wants to bitch about Angel and Buffy? Well, tough, 'cause I do. I knew it was gonna stink when Buffy went to UPN, but I foolishly hoped for something between revived Buffy and Angel. Both series just blew it off. Nothing. Not even a bittersweet “we’ve both moved on”. Nothing. I’m disgusted. I loved Buffy and Angel and all that vamp-slayer angst. Sorry. I did. I wanted more, damnit! And how do both characters handle their unexpected reunion? Off screen. What do they tell their respective gang?
“I don’t want to talk about it”. Blaach.
Absolutely friggin’ pathetic. Could have been so much better. Should have been. Wasn’t.
Ok. I’m through. Now. I take it you all want Buffy and “I’ve always been bad” Spike to become bosom buds. Sigh. Ok. I guess. I do like Spike. He’s just not Angel.
The trio, yeah, they’re stupidly funny. And appropriately so. Geeks who never get the girl, taking on the super slayer Buffy and surfing free internet porn? Tell me you don’t know a bunch of guys in high school/college just like 'em?? Gotta love it.
Oh, and I’m with Buffy and Willow/Tara getting into it soon, as well. Moving right in, Joyce’s bedroom, and whatall with the bills(c’mon, some of them have to be since Buffy’s death and neither appears to be working), and Willow venturing into deep dark magic and really enjoying the power…It’s gotta be ripe for a blow up.
NaSultainne: I dunno. How many more episodes with Buffy and Angel painfully realizing that they can never be happy together can we take? The first five, six times, I was fine with it. Now? Move on, get over it, do something new. (Like Spike, maybe.) Angel nailed this exactly with Cordelia and Wesley’s dramatic re-enactment for Fred.
Anyone else excited about the musical episode next week? I know I’m all fired up.
It’s the week after next, Miller. Next week is the Hallowe’en episode.
And I’m with you. We really didn’t need to see Buffy and Angel’s reunion; what would they say/do that we haven’t already seen a dozen times? We know they didn’t fuck, and I doubt anything else they could’ve done would have been very interesting.
And let’s not forget what may be the most telling line of the evening. When Buffy says to Giles, “I know you’ll always be here.” That’s when he gets a look. I expecetd his gaze to fall to the corner of the room, where his bags were already packed.
I’ve got a theory: Buffy and Angel could have sex, and because Angel would be all angstful about it, it would not lead to any curse-breaking perfect happiness. Just a thought.
I imagine the communal “I don’t want to talk about it” is gong to result in later deep meaningful discussions with only one other character. Remember they both didn’t want to talk about it when they were asked in front of their respective Scooby gangs.
