Bugged by Target's Xmas commercials (Joy to the World)

This is probably too trivial to be a real thread. Just consider it a rant. Join me if you wish.

Target is running a series of commercials for the holidays, which use “Joy to the World” as its music. Not the Christmas carol; the Three Dog Night, Jeremiah was a bullfrog one.

That’s just so…dumb. So wrong. So…anti-christmas. “Let’s kinda refer to a christmas carol, but make it edgy & in-your-face.”

Bugs the crap out of me.

And it reminds me of the joke/urban legend about the bride-to-be, who told her wedding planner that she wanted “that Robin Hood song” played at her wedding, thinking of “Everything I Do (I do for you)”. But when she started to march down the aisle, she got “Robin Hood, Robin Hood, riding through the glen…”.

I like it. Given their ubiquity, it’s better than having to hear yet another awful recycle /remake of a worn-out Christmas tune. Plus it’s more inclusive.

He gives to the poor, and robs from the rich.
Stupid bitch…

Yeah, a recycle/remake of a worn-out pop tune is a big improvement.

“…Robin Hood, Robin Hood, with his band of men,
Feared by the bad, loved by the good,
Robin Hood, Robin Hood, Robin Hood.”

or, Dennis Moore, take your pick.
