Yes, but there are plenty of female ones too. The females have to inherit an orange gene from both parents (otherwise they’d end up calico or tortoiseshell), but that’s not super-rare.

It’s generally considered wise to restrict use of that phrase to those who do not have razor-sharp retractable claws.
IMO, Garfield being male was established clear back in 1978. In the linked strip, he uses a male pronoun referring to himself. I’ve been a Garfield fan since the early 1980s (when he finally reached my rather rural area), and have never thought there was any question of his gender.

I had no idea about this Garfield silliness and would have assumed it was some reaction to a contemporary comment by Jim Davis, like recent attention toward Scott Adams.
Is JarJar a cartoon character? Arguable but one thing that is not arguable is his unpopularity.
If he wouldn’t enter a plea, they couldn’t take his property. If he pled and was then convicted, they could. Obviously if he was dead he couldn’t have it either – but his heirs could. He was saving his property for his sons.

You guys are reading way too much into this. The sticker isn’t a protest about gender identity or anything about Jim Davis’ politics- it’s just absurdism for its own sake. The physical equivalent of a shitpost, if you will.

There’s at least one example of a fictional character named Garfield who predates the cat. Garfield Logan, aka Beast Boy, first appeared in 1965. He was a member of the Doom Patrol and the Teen Titans.
For that matter, he also predates the other Logan as well. Wolverine’s first appearance was in 1974.
Agreed. I talk to my cat all the time, she’s a Siamese so she often talks back.
