I didn’t watch the video, but years ago I removed a customer over something similar.
I’m in the backroom and can hear some customers starting to raise their voices, a kerfuffle, if you will. I walk into the store to see what’s going on and find a big ‘texas’ looking guy yelling at a Muslim. Actually, rather than calling her Muslim, I should call her a ‘woman wearing a hijab’.
When I get closer, I can see her very upset/crying and explaining that she’s an American citizen and a business owner and she souldn’t be treated like this. He was making all kinds of awful remarks, but the one that I remember is ‘you’re in America, you should dress like an American’.
Now, this was a big guy but as soon as I heard that I did my best to console her and told him he needed to leave the store. He argued with me a bit but I continued to tell him he needed to leave.
I was honestly surprised that he did.
About 20 minutes later the police arrived. Apparently, on the way in she was a few steps behind him and he pushed the door shut, which in turn, hit her. She managed to get his license plate number and the last I heard the police we’re going to his house to speak with him. I’m guessing he just got a ‘you can’t do that’ speech, but I hope he got charged with some kind of hate crime.
The manage is clearly out of line. The moral climate in these great United States has been restored, and it’s now acceptable to tell people to go back to where they came from (even if they didn’t come from somewhere else). It’s absolutely true, because the moral leader of the free world just did the same fucking thing this weekend.
This incident from a flight is kind of related: two passengers wanted three others to be ejected from the plane, on account of these three having on Muslim prayer shawls. The two idiots ended up being ejected instead.
The kick: it was a flight from Turkey to the UK. Amazing, Muslims in a flight from Turkey! Totally unexpected! What’s next, chorizo in a Spanish dish?
Shrug, that could have been a connection. I’ve only flown from Holland once and it was due to a previous flight being diverted (that was not a fun night); half my flights out of the UK if not more have been connections.
Heh, reminds me of the only time I’ve heard someone tell another to go back where they came from. When a latin-looking guy did something that someone else said cost him $200, he told the assumed Latino to go back where he came from. This took place in Miami.
Since “go back where you came from” is now allegedly a “comedic” remark with no relevance to the target’s actual country of origin, I suggest we start using it like that. White American makes an awful pun or cuts in front of you in the grocery checkout line? Just tell them to “go back where you came from!” A humorous jab that will lighten the mood of all.
Hmm … I LOVE turkey. When I was a kid and first found out that there is actually a country named “Turkey”, I immediately wanted to go there. Maybe that’s it, LOL.
All y’all take a hint from that “security risk” country north of you: “Leader of the free world” and “USA” do not belong in the same sentence – not even on the same continent. I hope enough good folks get out and vote the next time round to remove the pussy-grabbing racist from office, but even then you’ve got a long way to go to get control of Congress and get the USA on a good path.
Kudos to the BK manager who put the bigot in her place. He would be a far better leader than the present elected one.
