'Burn After Reading' 'Wig' 'The Lewinsky Affair' -- What?

I just saw Burn After Reading on DVD and it was most entertaining, and then I went to check the Trivia on IMDB and it turns out that

and so, what’s that about?

As written, it makes no sense at all unless there was some kind of wig ban in DC. I’m sure it was supposed to say “wigs that could be seen” in DC around that time, and apparently it means she was wearing a Linda Tripp-ish wig.

Also, please do not believe a single bit of trivia from IMDb unless the source is cited and you can independently confirm the facts. I’ve worked on a few TV shows, and I’ve checked the trivia on those shows’ IMDb pages, and there are a few blatant falsehoods.

ANYONE can offer up IMDb trivia tidbits. Supposedly, the good folks at the website must confirm the truthiness of the trivia before it’s actually published on the site, but I think a lot of stuff falls through the cracks. Whoever wrote that trivia tidbit about “Burn After Reading” could have simply made the observation him or herself that “Boy! Frances’s wig totally makes her look like Linda Tripp!” and decided it was a FACT THAT MUST BE SHARED.

I lived in DC during the Lewinsky affair, and lemme tell you, no one wanted to look like Linda Tripp. Not even Linda Tripp.

The trivia item is badly written, but my generous interpretation is that people were wearing wigs like McDormand’s as part of Linda Tripp Halloween costumes. Certainly Linda Tripp never became a trendsetter.

I’m embarrassed to say that I never thought about that, smaje1. Many thanks for fighting my ignorance.

Nonetheless, thanks **Marley **for the info.
