Monica, just go away...

Respectfully submitted for your consideration…

I think Monica Lewinski should just go away. Sure make your handbags, do the LA/NY party circuit, maybe settle into a real job at some point. But please leave us, the general population, alone.

Wether you are Republican, Democrat or somewhere left right or middle of that (who that rhymed) she was a principle party to a shameful era in American history. Certainly we can place blame at the feet of Clinton for carrying on in the Oval Office with an intern. Some may also blame Starr for a sensational, exploitative, partisan attack driven by the rights despise for Clinton. But you know Clinton was the President, and he is going to be in the public eye for a long time simply because of that fact. Starr has faded back into obscurity…Monica, you should too.

You are famous for, simply stated, giving oral sex to a married man. Now there was much ado about this because of who he was and where it happened, and certainly you are not the only woman to have done this…but…

PLEASE FADE AWAY! Your actions caused the nation to go through a dark time, and almost caused an American President to lose his job.

My question to you, fair reader, is this: While Monica certainly has every right to pursue a career in the public eye, should she? Or should she take umbrage to the shame she brought the nation, and which she should rightly bear, and live a life out of the public eye?

Is there really a debate here? Is anyone really sitting there saying “y’know, what I’d really like to see is more of Monica Lewinsky on TV?”

Personally, I think we should send her over to the Middle East. Maybe she can fellate Sharon and Arafat until they reach a peace agreement.

If she’s working her way through an extended “15 minutes”, then she’ll fade out of the limelight soon enough. If she can maintain sufficient public interest (prurient or not), or be remarketed successfully by an agent or studio, she’ll last.

Probably a severe step backward for our society to sew a scarlet letter on all her clothing, don’t you think?

I take it you’re not watching her new show, Mr. Personality?

Nope. Ms. Lewinsky’s presence sealed the deal on that one, though I wasn’t planning on watching anyway. It looks dumb even by Joe Millionaire standards (and I still regret watching JM).

I would watch Lewinksy and Linda Tripp in “Celebrity Boxing.” C’mon Fox, make it happen…

More Lewinsky! I propose that every TV show should revolve around Monica in some way. We should watch sitcoms like Monica in the Middle and Everybody Loves Monica. Then all our porn should include titles like Monica in the Middle and Everybody Loves Monica.

It’s unfair to her to tell her to just fade away. This is her only plausible way to make money (on her feet, that is), and you don’t have to watch “Mr. Personality” anyway. Save your criticism for those who are still pushing her into our faces. That was, and still is, very lucrative for Fox.

As Mickey Kaus points out,

You could add a swipe at the people who are going to watch this crap, too - without them, there’d be no Fox as we know it.

No, it was Clinton’s actions that almost caused him to lose his job.

Do you want her to wear a scarlet letter too? C’mon. She’s notorious, it’s not like she has many other career opportunities - she can’t realistically hold down an office job. Eventually she will fade into obscurity, much like Donna Rice did.

She’s making money the best way she can. Perhpaps Clinton should pay her to stay out of the limelight. If anyone “brought shame to the nation”, it was he not she. Or perhaps Hillary can pay off Monica, so that her political career isn’t hurt. That is, unless the “vast right wing conspiracy” prevents either one of them from doing so.

If you really want Monica Lewinsky to “fade away”, dont watch her show and dont even talk about her. This is about as effective as putting out a match with a spray of gasoline. If you dont watch her show, it will bomb and she wont come back as host (reality TV never dies unfortunately) and it also takes her away from your consiousness so that to you personally she IS gone. Just forget about her. Go watch american Idol of something.

Forget that. Monica and Hillary in the squared circle.

Hmmm. Sounds like a good thread for Cafe Society:

“People you’d like to see on Celevbrity Boxing”

I don’t mind being the minority voice here.
I think Monica is still a babe. Being single and pathetic, I will watch the show for that reason alone.
So there.

Updating this thread, Monica is back!!! Exclusive report in Vanity Fair–unfortunately you have to subscribe to get the full report of her affair with Clinton–but here are the highlights!!!

Okay, which of you jerks talked about her recently? Someone’s to blame for Monica Lewinsky resurfacing, and it sure’s hell ain’t me!

It’s funny to read this old thread of people wishing she’d stay out of the limelight…

Because it turns out that’s exactly what she did.

I do sympathize with her somewhat. It will be very hard for her to get a real job with her fame and notoriety, plus there’s plenty of people trying to get her to promote their snake oil with using what fame she does have. Her chances of a normal life, even now a decade plus later are very small.

Back during her heyday I got a kick out of telling people I had a Monica Lewinsky tattoo. Then I’d show it to them. It’s a swallow.

If that’s the case, how did her dress get stained? :dubious:

So you’re saying this would be a more appropriate tattoo?

In her defense, she was technically a sexually harassed employee. You really can’t have a “consensual” sexual relationship with someone who is in a position of authority over you.

Having said that, who really cares at this point?
Clinton got off (in more ways than one) and Lewinsky got her 15 minutes.
Will this just go away?
