burn the brooms and dump that vacuum!

i want to cover my floors with fine, white beach sand.

Won’t you still need a broom to sweep it into pretty patterns?

Fine, white beach sand is all well and good, but everybody knows that
this year’s flooring rage is red clay mud. C’mon shijinn be hip, be trendy!

Know what’s scary? Somebody from “Trading Spaces” might see this and next thing we know, they’re reflooring somebody’s living room with sand or mud.

What!? Hildi still there?

I don’t know the age or sex of the OP, but I will tell you covering one’s floors in sand (preferably under polyethelene sheething) is a sure fire way to get girls to come to a house party in a bathing suit even if you don’t have a pool or a hot tub.

Sounds good but my cat (named Cat after much thought) might think of it as a large litter box, so I will pass

She would probably try to glue the sand to the wall…

Having grown up in a beach house, I’d like to point out that sand travels up as well as sideways. It will get in your hair, in your pants, in shirt pockets, in books… everywhere. You would end up with sand in all of the cushions of your furniture (unless you replaced it with patio furniture!) and in the sheets on your bed (unless you replaced the beds with a beach blanket and shook it out frequently). And of course, when you showered, you’d end up washing some of your floor down the drain every day.

Hasn’t she already done that?

I’ve always thought that a grass floor would be ideal. Put a couple layers of poly over the sub-floor, and then put sod on top of that. Think about it, you’d NEVER have to clean the damn thing! Spill some milk? Just let is soak into the grass! The only maintainance is the weekly watering and clipping. Get an old-fashioned lawnmower and it would be just like vacuuming.
