Burning Armpits

If you shower in the morning and put on deodorant, then shower again perhaps after work and put on more deodorant, why the hell does it sting under your arms?

I believe you are suffering from a localized phenomenon.

*Perhaps/i] you have a mild allergy to an ingredient in the deodorant you use. Switch brands and see if that helps. I know that there is something in the clear deodorants that irritates my skin badly. I can use it for one day, but the next I’ll have a rash in my pits. So I stick with the white gunk and I have no problems.

Well, it might not matter about the second shower. Most deodorants contain alcohol which can certainly sting open pores.

I have the same reaction with non anti-perspirant deodorants. I believe it is an allergic reaction to one of the ingredients in these products, as I do not experience it with dry sticks (anti-perspirants), and I do not experience it with semi-dry sticks (such as Old Spice HE Red Zone, my current deodorant), but it burns like hell if I use regular Speed Stick (the clear/colored sticks)…but it usually takes a week or so of use before the reaction usually sets in. Try using a white stick, and you will probably notice a lack of burning!

I once had a similars problem. In my case it was because of the way I was bathing. I would wash my pits with Dial deodorant soap, then soap up the rest of my body before rinsing. Apparently I have sensitive skin and the soap was burning me slightly. I switched to rinsing my pits immediately after soaping, and the problem disappeared.
