My parents passed within days of each other, 34 years apart. I sometimes wonder if their subconsciously plan it that way.
My condolences on your drastic misfortunes.
I can’t imagine what you’re going through. Wishing you strength during your grieving and a much better 2014.
I lost both my parents within a month, so I can sympathise with you.
I went to a grief counsellor afterwards and it really helped me.
My parents died 9 weeks apart, and that was hard enough. 8 days has gotta be a helluva blow.
All I can say is it will get easier. Not easy, but easier.

Sorry to hear about this double loss, especially because both sounded like an ordeal for everyone involved. Hoping that 2014 at least gives you a break.
How awful! It’s especially hard when you have a loved one dying of Parkinson’s or terminal cancer because you are saying goodbye to them over a prolonged period of time. It’s agonizing.
Keep your chin up. Grief can be overwhelming, but it does subside in tiny drips.
Thank you, everyone! I hadn’t considered the idea of a grief counselor, but think I might consider that direction. I’ll be able to bitch and cry and hopefully heal in the process.
Yep. That which doesn’t kill you makes you…a survivor. Nothing less, nothing more. People who think otherwise have never had anything really tragic happen to them, IMO.

Oh, my goodness. I didn’t see this thread until you linked to it from another. I was surprised that I hadn’t seen it.
I realize that it’s been a while, but I am deeply sorry for your losses. I truly hope 2014 is gentler for you and your family.
