Bush Administration, first 100 days

Recently, I’ve seen some posters imply that many horrible things will happen as a result of Bush being elected (assuming he really is). I’ve ocassionally tried to encourage a bit of moderation in these fears. Unfortunately, I have come into possession of a secret Bush “note to self” describing his plans for his first 100 days in office. It’s almost as bad as I’ve heard it described. See for yourself:

Congress could go Democrat by 2002, must get pro-life justices in the Court now. Assassinations if necessary. And only justices who will not only overturn Roe vs. Wade, but also accept federal anti-abortion laws.

“Don’t ask, don’t tell” works for the military, now it’ll be the law for the rest of us.

Nationwide school vouchers now! Immediately. No studies, no trials, no plans, just vouchers.

An Executive Order can exempt blacks from that whole “due process” requirement, right? Shove 'em in Old Sparky between “silent” and “any”.

Now that all schools are on a voucher program, I can begin the religious indoctrination. Hell, church can be a part of school. I’m President, I can do things like this on a whim.

Cabinet positions can go to my friends from the oil industry. The voters won’t mind the Secretary of the Interior selling his own company drilling rights for National Parks. Look at the size of my mandate, I can do anything.

And none of this crap about having women in the Cabinet. A woman’s place is the home. Women will no longer have the right to work. They will exist solely for the purposes of bearing children and raising them as good Christians.

Also, immigration will now be restricted to only the light skinned. The new motto of the INS will be “keeping dirty brown people out of the U.S. since 2001”.

There will be a new tax on the poor to pay millionaires for having to share the same air they breathe.

This can offset any number of drastic, millionaire-only tax cuts. And champagne and caviar dinners for CEOs that supported me at the White House.

Cigarettes will henceforth be required with every school lunch. Thanks for Tennessee, guys. If they start at 7, they’ll be lifelong customers.

OK, now to get to the things that won’t be so easy to get passed.

Hee hee. It’s the supreme court thing that gets me. I figger, I can put up with just about any politician’s crap for four years. [And both major party candidates had plenty of potential for dishing crap out. This I realize]. But the SC nominations will last, which worries me more.

I plan to take the nice big juicy tax cut benefit from Bush and use some of it to donate generously to NARAL and the Sierra Club or whoever else works in the direction I would like to see such issues go.

No, that’s a lie. I’ll probably go buy shoes. But it’s the thought that counts, right? I’m sure there were some non-voters in FL that are telling themselves the same thing right now. The thought counts!
