Bush-Cheney '04 - The Sloganator Lives!

I don’t know how many of you saw this a few weeks ago, but for a time on the official Bush-Cheney '04 website, they had a form that allowed you to make posters customized with whatever text you wanted. Certain phrases were blocked (e.g., “evildoers” and “warmongers”) but not others, and they also failed to block the line where you could write your city. They came complete with “Paid for by Bush-Cheney '04, Inc.” at the bottom!

Now a website has collected some of the funnier ones, which can be viewed here: http://revbilly.com/revsite/sloganator1/sloganator/index.html

Enjoy!

Nice

I saw that site, and while I think it’s funny, I think it’s probably fake. Note that one of the “examples” doesn’t have the flag image in it, and I’m pretty sure that they wouldn’t have that as an option for people making their own slogan.

Dear Lord, who on Bush’s team thought THAT was a good idea… :stuck_out_tongue:

I assure you, it’s not fake. I got an email about it on March 10 and played around with it a bit. I don’t know when they took it down. Sorry I didn’t think to post the link here at the time. I can’t explain the missing flag though.

The one that had the missing flag had a slogan that said something like “We’re nothing without the flag” so it was clearly intentional that the flag was gone.

Loved the site!

goes off to spam friends and family

Look Ma! Can I hang it on the 'fridge???

And it played one of my favorite songs too.

Hee hee.

I realize it was on purpose, but it still smacks of being fake. The premise of the slide show is supposed to be that there was an automatic image generator paid for by Bush/Cheny '04 that people had some fun with. But there’s nothing that could possibly explain how the flag was removed from one of them.

So that picture at least is a fake, which leads me to doubt very much the veracity of anything else claimed by whoever made the slide show in the first place.

Really? Absolutely nothing?

I think you’re taking this a little too seriously.

Exactly. They photoshopped it. So couldn’t they have photoshopped all of them? I doubt that Bush-Cheney actually paid for these, but it’s funny nonetheless.

They didn’t. They did, for a time, have a “make your own poster” app on their website, however, so the rest of the posters didn’t need phototshop.

Look, amthewalrus(:3=, I am not a liar. I got an email about this a month ago and visited the site myself before they changed it. I figured it made the email rounds out there and a lot of people had seen it, but I guess not. It is a bit funnier if you saw the original sloganator on the Bush-Cheney website, and less so if you think some anti-Bushistas just made up the sign themselves. Here is what is now on the campaign website, without the lines for customized slogans and cities.

I’m sorry, chula, I didn’t mean to say that you were a liar. Please accept my apologies.

However, until this thread, the only information I had about the posters was from a site that had obviously faked at least one of them, leading me to doubt the whole story. And I kept arguing it because no one seemed to acknowledge that the slide show site was full of it.

No problemo, iamthewalrus(:3, but still don’t get what you mean by the site being “full of it.”
