Well that was gay.

(as in cheerful, I mean, really)

Pimp much, gemstone?

And the debate is…does gemstone have anything original to say, apparently.

Oh, good! A website that is too anti-Bush. Useful for calibration, defines the extremes. OK, checking my ranking…ah! just about right! I loathe him to precisely the appropriate degree! (Though, frankly, I rather expected as much…)

What a crappy site to quote while making an argument.

What exactly is the debate here…or is this a pit thread that was mis-posted in the wrong area??

Drive-by. He/she has made 4 idiot posts and hasn’t had the courage to revisit any of them.

There are solid, convincing arguments to be made that the George W. Bush Administration dropped the ball on anti-American terrorism and allowed an event like 9/11 to occur through their misguided “leadership.”

This OP, however, is not it.

Don’t see much inclination to debate here, so I think this should be in the Pit.

Ugh, what a shitty site. Why do I have the feeling that Gemstone will is feverishly masterbating away while he spectates the outcome of this thread?

A few weeks ago Bill Maher said on his show that if Gore had been elected, the Republican ads would look the same as now; they’d show images of 9/11… but point out it happened on Gore’s watch.

I’ve been thinking about that ever since, trying to decide if that’s true. I think it’s quite possible that the same folks who gave us the Willy Horton ad just might have done that.

Totally true. And if there was a repub before him, he’d be blaming him.

I think the situation would be very similar.

I can think of a great many indicators that Bush and his administration are grossly incompetent and dangerous in office; I have enough reasons, each of them sufficient to vote against him, to reach from top of monitor screen to my kneecaps.

This ain’t one of them. In a pretty open culture where citizens (and resident noncitizens for that matter) have a wide latitude of behaviors in which they can engage without intrusive governmental monitoring, a tiny pocket of terrorists came to live, kept their nose clean, took flying lessons legally, boarded planes legally carrying box cutters, and proceeded to destroy the World Trade Center towers (along with the planes and all their passengers) and do significant damage to the Pentagon by using the planes themselves as their primary weapons.

True, there may have been an intelligence report indicating that something was afoot and possibly even that the plans appeared to involve the hijacking of planes or another attack on the WTC, etc etc. But unless there was reason within the US intelligence community to rank this report higher than “there’s a good chance Slobodan Milosevic’s second cousin’s American colleagues might try to poison the Croton Reservoir with several gallons of botox some time this fall” or “intercepted correspondence indicates several survivalist organizations will try to attack facilities of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms and are selecting targets now” or whatever else happens to be in what I assume is a stack of “things we might oughta be worrying about”, even such a report doesn’t indicate to me that the administration knew enough to prevent the tragedy of 9/11.

Well, there is that bipartisan Congressional Committee that’s trying to nail down exactly what went wrong to allow 9/11 to occur, but for some reason the Bush White House keeps blocking their efforts to get more information and insight into the issue. Last I heard, Bush and Cheney were only willing to meet with the Chair and Vice-Chair of the panel for one hour, instead of meeting the entire panel for a full day or so (as Bill Clinton and Al Gore have agreed to do).

False.

Well, Bush and Cheney have a country to run. Clinton and Gore have a lot more free time on their hands.

This from the party that made the “Daisy” ad? Both sides have slung their fair share of mud.

And do you really believe that no Dems are treating the investigation into security lapses as a big political ad that blames Bush for 9/11? If so, your naivete is a bit shocking, even if it is cute.

Actually, your info’s a little out of date. He’s agreed to answer all the questions they want without time constraints

Granted, he seems to have been pressured into it by campaign pressures, but he’s going to do it.

Great, dragged kicking a screaming to the 9/11 investigation.

This country has gone to shit.
