Bush had better do something pretty damn fast about the solidier's being killed daily

Not so much a debate as a political opinon, but I think the content is more suited for GD than IMHO.

I am a registered Republican, but I’ve voted Democratic and I’ve voted Republican in my time, and for the most part consider myself part of the main MOR electorate that decides national elections.

This drip, drip, drip of one, two, three, four solidier deaths a day nonsense is really starting to wear on my patience and unless he gets the situation in Iraq turned around pretty quickly he’s going to see my opinion about this “necessary” operation in Iraq start to change pretty damn fast in addition to my opinion about the quality of his leadership. The more that this stuff goes on and the more that keeps dribbling out about how the purportedly high quality intelligence sources that led to the decision to invade Iraq were basically WAGs about Saddam’s military capabilities and people were just pulling stuff out of their ass, the more pissed off I am becoming.

If it gets to point that this all looks like it was one big shell game to avenge daddy’s honor and we have hundreds of dead Americans to account for he will not be the President I vote for the next go round.

This is war. People die and it’s tragic. But the US has absolutely dominated this war. I too pray for a quick resolution, but let’s keep this in perspective to other wars throughout history. Comparitively, the casualty rate is extremely low.

Well, you could also go over to Iraq and ask the residents there what they think in order to form a better opinion.
Because you see, even if members of the invading armies die daily, the people of Iraq still die daily as well and they outnumber the invading soldiers into the thousands.

Or you could start wondering if the lies that dragged you into supporting this invasion of a sovereign nation aren’t just a little bit too much…

I mean: US’ers were horribly upset when Clinton lied about some private events with some girl, who pruely by accident kept some dress with some stains on it, to show up with it at the right calculated moment.
Yet they show an extreme and really touching compassion and patience with a president who invents the most incredible lies in order to go killing thousands of people in order to occupy their nation in order to make a grab for region control and of course for the abundance of oil wealth.

Wish you very much succes in your further exploration and discoveries.
Hint from a non US’er: You could go take a look at the website of a certain Howard Dean, if you get finally a bit angry with the Bushy clan.

Salaam. A.

ummm yeah…

Really? Do you have any idea how many Iraqis died, how many are mutilated, how many lost everyone and everything…

Ya, you’re right. They probably prefer Sadaam. A lot less civilian casualties that way.

I think it was Tim Russert who commented on the possibility that we may lose more people after we declared victory than before.

The Pentagon’s Report from CSIS estimates that if we can’t get things in hand in about three months security-wise, we aren’t going to get it in hand. IIRC, the drops of the dripping are becoming more frequent. If things haven’t settled down by Novemeber, then we are supposed to be in trouble. THe same report estimates that we have about a year to get everything else in line before the window of opportunity closes.

Forgot to ask:

Are you serious whit that “absolutely dominated this war”?

  1. Which “war”?
It was and is the illegal criminal invasion of a sovereign nation

  2. Which" domination".
Of what? There were no weapons in Iraq to counter those of the USA, there were no planes to defend the air space.

Sorry? Please repeat again that “absolute domination”?
Flattening towns and villages with the most deadly bombs killing thousands of people is to you “domination”?

Well I do hope for you that some day you don’t land in such a situation where a bomb drops on top of your house and you see all your family get killed while you are burning.

Any loss of human life is horrible. My heart hurts for the people of Iraq. But the blood of the innocent is on Sadaam, not the US. While it may be a US bomb the wounded or killed (and that is horrible), it was not intentionally so. Those bombs are their because of a ruthless, evil cut-throat.

  1. Wow…

  2. Exactly.

Again, with all do respect, are you suggesting the previous was a better situation for the Iraqi people? While I don’t like the protests and seeing the maimed, homeless children… the point is I am seeing them, which is a new thing for the Iraqi people.

U Y

It is the sign of the defenseless in an argument when he refers to things that have nothing to see with the issue at hand.
What Hussein did has nothing to do with what the USA does.

The USA didn’t want to invade Iraq to “liberate” the Iraqis. That spin came after a few others, talking about “immediate threat” and WMD and chams and nukes and whatever…

Remember?

Do you also remember good old Hussein was the good friend of the USA when he waged 8 years of war against the US bad guys in Iran?
He was still the good friend of the USA when he started using all those chems aong wich basic substances were delivered to him by among others… The USA.
He also wasn’t disturbed in massacring thousands of Kurds and Shi’a after Gulf War, who by the way came in uprise under instigation of the USA… Who then of course thought they would do the job of getting rid of the suddenly not so good friend Saddam.
Yet they failed because the USA stood by and watched, never came up with the promessed support and didn’t lift one finger to save them from the murdering butcher when he came for some revenge.
Or did that happen in my dreams?

And don’t come with the lame excuse that at the time the USA had no “mandate of the UN” to change the Iraqy regime.

They certainly didn’t and stil don’t have any UN mandate now, do they?

I’m surprised to hear you talk of GWB that way.

I fail to see how the post-war civilian casualties are “on Saddam.” Which is what this OP is concerned with.

Please explain?

Those bombs were dropped for oil. The Bush administration cares little about tyrants.

Unless of course that’s the reason for the war given today.

Hello?

Nicely done…

U Y,

The removal of that regime would have been long done if the CIA, so keen on mixing itself in countries policies, had supported the Iraqy opposition instead of the USA hungering out the whole Iraqy population for more then a decade with the most outragious criminal sanctions ever demonstrated in recent history.

Yet they didn’t all that much want him to be replaced at the time… Fear of a power vacuum in the region, no US lover at hand to replace him, thoughts about a take-over by the Shi’a who were thought to be influenced by Iran and thus forming a not so US puppet-like regime.

Alde,
You forget that many Americans still haven’t come to terms w/ the fact that the war on Iraq was sold to them based on a hyped up hypothetical threat.
To some of these people honestly believe that Hussein controlled US foreign policy to the degree that the US didn’t have a choice about attacking Iraq. Cheney still trying to seel the idea that waiting to attack Iraq would’ve been recklessly irresponsible.

Why are you confused?
We talk about the US invasion.
You come up with what a brutal dicator Saddam was.

The one has nothing to do with the other.

Yes, I know. We are that much disgusted that is isn’t even witty any more to witness their struggle.

But is you want my favorite on the scale of evil, please put Rumsfeld on top. That man is fanatically obsessed. Only looking at him is enough to see that.
