Well, I’ve got no dog in this fight, but I support the OP’s SDMB-bestowed right to come into the Pit and jump up and down and rant and rave about whatever topic his little heart desires, no matter if we’ve already had umpty-gazillion threads on the topic. That’s what the Pit is for, people. Flaming. And it was a not-bad flaming, too. I give it only a 5.2, 'cause I’ve seen better from this poster, and I thought that while the emotion expressed was honest, still overall it lacked a certain…pizzazz.

Yes, well, I’ve voted against him in both Presidential elections, have joined in occasional street protests, and registered my disagreement with his policies in dozens of threads on this board. Other than that, I support him completely.

Granted, Hillary isn’t going to resurrect the dead or build a time machine to un-spend money. However, as tragic a decision as it was to go to war, the country is not in the slightest bit of danger of being destroyed as a result of these soldiers dying or this money being wasted.
No, opposing Bush doesn’t make you an asshole. Pretty much everything you post makes you an asshole. I’ve always thought of you as one, but when you offered to allow me to fuck you in the ass if SDMB is still around after 4/13/2007, you pretty much achieved permanent status in my pantheon of SDMB assholes.
Asshole is, as asshole does. And what you’re doing, is asshole, whether it’s directed at Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Gonzales, George Will, or Huckleberry Hound; it is asshole, whether it’s as accurate as some widely-accepted-as-highly-accurate thing, or purest made-up drivel.

Opposing Bush doesn’t make me an asshole; it doesn’t make practically everyone else in this entire thread an asshole; and it doesn’t make you an asshole. What makes all of us assholes is all of us posting multiple paragraphs of stream-of-consciousness potty-mouthed invective that, in its lack of a specific complaint seems more suited to a Two Minutes Hate session than a Pit rant, then calling people Bush supporters for daring to ask what provoked it.

In terms of opposing Bush, it’s highly ineffective. And to the extent that it distracts from the accomplishment of actual oppositional goals, it’s counter-productive. Why do you want Bush to remain immune from effective opposition?
