Bush Laments that Ob-Gyn's Can't Practice Their Love with Women

Too damned right. My mom’s been wheelchairbound for a few years now, and with a crippled right arm she was finding it harder and harder to propel her chair over the carpeting in her asssisted living home. She desperately needed a motorized wheelchair. But could she pry the price of one out of Medicare? Even with her doctor’s assistance? Could she (an intelligent woman in full command of her faculties) even understand all the bureaucratic bushwah required to request such an aid? Hell, no! She finally had to take the five grand it cost out of her own rapidly diminishing resources.

Cheap shots against trial lawyers were made mandatory ever since Edwards got on the Democratic ticket. But I’m sure you knew that.

When did Bush ever serve as an advocate for the “little guy”? The man thinks it’s funny to mock condemned prisoners before their execution, remember?

Are you sure you’re not getting the real Dubya confused with That’s My Bush

Don’t, actually. Gotta cite? It’s okay if it’s from the International Herald Tribune;)

George W. Bush knew that he was not going to reprieve Karla Faye Tucker. He could have told her that the day before," Mauro explained. “He could have told her a week before. But he waited until the six o’clock prime time news, knowing she was strapped to a gurney still having hope about her life, and he grandstanded on her.” Bush went further when he joked about Karla Faye Tucker’s desperate plea for life, which had been aired on Larry King Live. During an interview with Talk Magazine, Bush mocked Karla Faye, whimpering “Please, don’t kill me” in an imitation of her voice [see “Devil May Care” by Tucker Carlson, Talk Magazine, September1999, p.106]

Where’d you see it last?

Oh, I’m sorry, were you under the impression that someone owed health insurance to you due to the mere fact of your existence?

Re: the OP: Leno just showed the clip of this Bush comment on his show. Bush didn’t even look like he realized he said something really stupid.

:smack:

and one for Dubya too :smack:

I would argue that, yes, every human being is entitled to decent health care by the mere fact of their existence. You got a fucking problem with that.

Amen, ditto, me too, etc.

A tax cut.

If you can’t be with the one you glove, honey, glove the one you’re with.

Just ringing in to say that after reading that, MY wife will never be allowed to see another gyno, as long as I’M living!

I KNEW it was wrong when she first told me that a STRANGER was looking up inside her COOTER!

/staunch sheltered idiot

She may just thank you for that!

bloody smear tests …mutter mutter

[Astonished Canadian]Uh, well, actually, yeah. [AC]

It ain’t perfect, but it’s there, and it’s your right, just because you exist.

The quote as presented was wrong–in that it does not show Bush’s hesitation.

He really said:

‘Too many OB/GYNs aren’t able to practice their-- [looong pause]–love with women all across this country.’

Huge difference. Bush was trying to say ‘love for treating women’, or something like that. But he, being tired, inadvertently truncated the phrase.

Still, that is an amusing slip.

This is the funniest thing I have read in a long time! Thanks for the laugh Enderw24.

Could somebody explain to me again how this guy was put in charge of the largest collection of WMDs this side of Rigel?

Someone please post a link to audio/video of this.

Cleverly, you have worded it as a “right” to collect, rather than an obligation to pay. Even some Canadians know that money doesn’t just fall from the sky. It is not health-care that you are entitled to, but rather it is that you are entitled to force someone else to pay. You are not making the doctors, nurses, and vast support staffs work for free. You really are getting nothing for free. In fact, all you have done is suffle the deck of money cards and have added a third party to the whole game — one that is more than eager to get involved, since the vast majority of wealth is concentrated with it. It punishes those who succeed by taking their money; it keeps a substantial cut for itself (because its salaries are quite grand); and then it doles out the remainder in whatever way it considers equitable regardless of what needs there might be in reality. Meanwhile, you have ultimately disincentivized any and all technological achievement in medicine because you have rendered it unprofititable. Right now, you are at the stage of a fire when the newspaper has just been lit, and a bright blaze lights the room. But your watersoaked logs, puny and few, will be all that remains to comfort you as the fading embers you left behind fall to your grandchildren. In the words of Janis Joplin, “Get it while you can.”
