Once again, when reality strikes, jmullaney runs the other way!
Whatever shall he do when presented with hard evidence that W. wants creationism taught alongside evolution? Why, he compares the situation to claims about aliens! That will certainly win people over to your side!
Hey, I didn’t know that France had dilithium mines. Doesn’t that violate the anti-proliferation treaty or something?
Fercryinoutloud yourself, jmullaney. What makes you think that the reporter was “making it up” rather than paraphrasing GWB? (The part about teaching evolution and creationism side by side, not the alien part.) Give me a break. All of the evidence in this thread, combined with GWB’s strong backing from the religious right, implies that Shrub would support the teaching of creationism in science class. I infer that he would do so, and that he is therefore an imbecile. You infer that he would not. I don’t know how you deny that other than that it would create irreconcilable cognitive dissonance for you to believe that George Washington Bridge would advocate such a stupid position, but you do it.
Btw, since you seem so keen on the Weekly World News, the Bat Boy is backing Gore, and I hope you’ll do likewise.
I would just like to see an actual quote from Bush that would support the “paraphrase” as you call it. If Bush really meant what you think he means, you should be able to come up with something that is unequivicable and not open to interpretation. Although it is too late now.
If y’all have some evidence, please feel free to share.
jmullaney, I’d like to see a quote from GWB along the lines of, “Hey, I have no idea what I’m doing in regards to foreign policy, but I’ve surrounded myself with smart people who do. Also, I spend only 15 minutes on each death penalty case that comes across my desk. My family connections got me lots of jobs that I wasn’t really qualified for.” I think that quote is unlikely. However, other direct quotes, as well as information from other sources, allows me to infer (it’s a term of logic - you should look it up some time) those things and be reasonably certain that they are accurate.
Apply logic to the quotes that many have cited in this thread, and the inescapable inference is that Shrub advocates “creation science” being taught as science. When you have one compass indicating “North”, that direction may be north and it may not be. Now get another compass, and another. If they all indicate “North”, odds are pretty good it’s north. Same thing applies here. (My apologies to Alistair MacLean.)
You know, somehow I doubt posting it for the umpteenth time is suddenly going to make you open your eyes.
But, hey, it looks like we will probably get to see just what he will do in the next four years. Lucky us. As one who spends too much time as it is fighting against creationists and those who want to put creationism in school curricula, I suspect that time will go even higher.
