Bush Press Conference: I couldn't take it anymore...

I will, absolutely. We just had a thread on this topic a little while ago. Over the last forty years, there has been no difference in spending when you look at which party controls congress, but broken down by presidents, Democrats do better in all economic indicators. So, no sweat, partner, especially if Democrats control congress too.

I’ll be flabberglommerated if Kerry has even two years with a Democratic congress (well, maybe a Dem Senate, but not Senate and HoR).

But I’ll certainly take the bet under those conditions.

I know. And with my background, there’s no way I’d be accepted as a Lefty in Oz, either. I’m comfortable with the NSW Labor Right, but that’s as far left as I’m prepared to go. Having said that, though, the current bunch of Liberals that we’ve got, Howard, Downer, Vanstone, etc. make me cringe every time they open their freakin’ mouths.

How’d I do? Reckon I’ve got the Yanks totally confused?

North, South, West, Right? That sounds like Rummies description of where Saddam hid his WMDs.

Close:

NSW = New South Wales, the state in which Sydney is located. The Labor party is in theory the “left leaning” party, but it has various factions within it. One of them is the “NSW Right” faction, i.e. the right wing faction of the NSW branch. The most recent Labor Prime Minister, Paul Keating, was from that faction, as is the current opposition leader Mark Latham.

The party currently in government is the Liberal party, which despite the name is supposedly the “right leaning” party.

In practice, there’s no readily discernable difference between the two parties when they’re governing.

There’s also two minor parties, the Greens and the Australian Democrats, which is where you’d find the true lefties, I guess.

RE this press conference: David Rees says it all, and with extra swearing:

David Reese is a god that walks the earth like a man.

Thanks for clearing that up, I couldn’t figure out if you meant Dick Cheney or Karl Rove.

ROTFLMAO!
