International Dopers: would you rather see Kerry or Bush as our next president?

Well?

Kerry.

Bush is a scarey, scarey man.

Bush.

Hey, you asked. I’m a conservative. Bite me.

Kerry

In Australia we only see mass media reports.
Personally I am not a fan of John Howard (our PM) partly because his ties with Bush and getting us into the Iraq war, but also becuase I am not a Liberal party voter (not sure how different our liberal party is to yours in the US).
Our election is in about 2 weeks and i imagine we will see a change in leadership here which maymean the relationship built between howard and Bush may be for nothing as I dont think Mark Latham will attract the same relations (labour party here is very Union based)

After that little relation to our politics, my general feeling for Bush is that I dont like him, the mass media here protrays him as dim witted, power hungry and a war monger. That said, Kerry is more portrayed as an All American war hero, standing for American ideals. With the push of the younger generations of Australia trying to regain the Australian identity and move away from the “americanisation” of our country, perhaps Kerry may not be the best in our eyes, but Bush would increase ties with Australia much like an Aes Sedeai in WOT.

In the end most of us are too passive to give a crap. I think Kerry would be my preference because of the mass media identity protrayed of Bush

Thanks for asking !

Kerry

I’d vote for Kerry, if it were possible. And we get access to all kinds of media here in Australia, so disregard Moggy’s suggestion about there being only one “mass media” viewpoint.

If you want to get snippy, do it in The BBQ Pit.

Christ, Czarcasm I was joking. How is that worse than “Bush is a scarey, scarey man”?

Yes we get access to many different forms of media but who controls it?

The underground or independant news sources dont rate highly and often dont have much push, we can use the internet to source other news outlets, but then how much of that do you believe.

For the normal every day australian you would get your news from one of the following

NewsCorp
News Limited

So yeah we have lots of diversity
Chanel 9
Chanel 10
Chanel 7
ABC
SBS

hmmmm yeah none of that mainstream

newspapers, well once again who produces those. The same 2 companies!!!

Fairfax is a derivitive of whom???

So most people only get the news they see on free to air TV of a night time or what they read in a paper.

So i think the fact that we CAN access other news sources is invalid in reference to the entire populace who would actually source that

I was getting to alice_in_wonderland(“Bad alice!”) when my computer frozed.

Christ Czarcasm-has a nice ring to it, don’tcha think?

Coulda been worse. I nearly forgot the comma !

I think you have to be an admin first though.

Kerry. And I’m hoping for Latham here.

As someone opposed to going into Iraq in the first place, I’m no great fan of Bush. Kerry simply gives me the willies and reminds me of ex President Kennedy, who I despise.

So I don’t think I would vote - a first for me. If I knew more about the Libertarian candidate (it *is * Libertarian, isn’t it?), I suppose I might vote for him, but I have such loathing for the word libertarian as well that that would probably be enough to put me off.

Yeah, I know, I’m full of hate today.

The Libertarian candidate.

Thanks, Necro, I was struggling with his name. I had a quick look, especially at his poll data, which shows him running at around 5% of the vote.

Anyone But Bush.

In a straight choice between them, Kerry.

Who would you rather see as the British PM after the (probable) election next year?

Kerry, definitely, since I’m not anti-gay, anti-abortion, anti-environment, anti-international-relations or pro-war.

Kerry.
