Busines Phone Etiquette

I don’t know if that’s always true. I think the type of business matters as well. I’m in the US and when I used to work for a commercial real estate firm, everyone loved voicemail. The realtors were out of the office for showings, closings, etc.) almost more than they were in the office, and while they were out they had access to voicemail so they - and their clients - liked it when they could pick up a voicemail while on the road and return a call right away instead of having to wait until they got back to the office to get the messages from the receptionist. We probably had 90% of calls go to voicemail and 10% of people want to leave a message with the receptionist. So the industry your in may matter as well as location as to how you view voicemail.
