Maybe, but Jesus taught people to be kind to one another and help each other. He said that the poor and downtrodden had value. He pushed a message of hope in a world where things often seemed hopeless.
I think this is primarily the reason his message resonated so long beyond his death.
Granted, once that message actually took enough root to become a state religion, then it became far more corrupted over time. But it had to appeal to people after his death first. It had to make people who were willing to die for him.
So, basically, the exact opposite message from what’s being touted by our current con men.
