Other than a direct quote.
Again, running coach, this standard that you’re holding Trump to, regarding grammar and coherence, its kind of…average. There is no way Trump can be expected to meet such a high standard. Why don’t you back off of that great man?
Riiight, and Mitt Romney actually had flesh-and-blood women in those binders.
Where’s the fun in that? (to bobot)
Since Romney didn’t have a history of displaying total ignorance of every possible topic, no one thought he meant that.
Trump is a whole 'nother bucket of slop.
He is that, but I feel confident he didn’t think the Moon is part of Mars or vice versa. And I’m not one known to bend over backward to give him the benefit of the doubt!
The most generous interpretation is that he knows that in order to get to Mars, we must go back to the Moon first, which makes what he said initially (“NASA should NOT be talking about going to the Moon”) stupid. But then again, he’s a moron, so there you go.
Well, perhaps he should give a speech instead of compressing his thoughts into a Tweet. That way he can cogently lay out his thoughts instead of making us guess.
That’s assuming, of course, that he can speak coherently for seventeen minutes at a time.
“That’s assuming, of course, that he can speak coherently for seventeen [del]minutes[/del] seconds at a time.”
FTFY
Nailed it. Winner. End of discussion.
Of course he can’t. But that doesn’t make this tweet incoherent.
Yeah, he’s a moron, but why would *this *particular utterance be stupid? It amounts to “NASA is emphasizing the wrong thing” or “NASA is burying the lede”.
It’s difficult to refrain from mockery when a politician’s mental processes convert an idea like this…
…into a statement like this:
ENOUGH on the tweet, for fuck’s sake!!
Steve, that blast from the Quayle past was gold. I remembered him as a dumbass, but had not recalled that he was quite *that *much of a dumbfuck.
Uhhhh…you *have *read the thread title? What do you think would be a more appropriate topic? :dubious:
Learlier?
He’s the one who misspelled *potato *and no one ever let him forget it. It takes more than that to bring down a career these days.
Geez Louise, Mr. Obvious. The topic per se is appropriate enough. It’s just the hamster-wheel nature of the discussion on this particular tweet. Round and round, going nowhere new. Aren’t YOU tired of saying the same thing over and over. Do you think those resisting your point will get it on the 1,000th repetition?
Yeah, I often wonder what my fellow Pitsters are like in real life. Do they keep bringing up the same point over and over again? Sit around family dinner or the local coffee joint and just interrupt a discussion with “Yeahwellwhatdabout…” every five minutes?
Or are they doing that here because they’ve been uninvited by the family and everyone who goes out for coffee?
I often wonder about dopers who whine about people venting in the Pit. Fuck off to the Little Priss forum if it bothers you so. And take Slacker’s spin turds with you.
Yeah. It’s not unreasonable to expect a President to be able to express an idea clearly (as Jack Batty did in this post).
But the bigger story may be how easily-manipulated Trump is. As has been mentioned, his new position contradicts what his Administration has been saying for months—and apparently it’s all because he saw something on Fox Business:
That phenomenon—show Trump something on TV and he’ll change his entire Administration’s policy on a dime—is well worth discussing.
The short-fingered vulgarian’s “weak spot” and “soft belly” might well be his fear of wearing the ball and chain.
