THANK YOU! We’ve had so many cases lately of posters saying something, sometimes a long post that they don’t really believe.
One jerk in the Politics forum even waited until a dozen people had gotten their undies in a bundle and then came back with “Really? Are you this dense? Do I have to label everything I say [sarcasm]?” And kept it up and made a couple more long “sarcastic” posts later in the thread…
So, yeah, I wish that could be a warnable or notable offense during these tinderboxy times.
At the least, it runs afoul of the Don’t Be A Jerk rule.
Yes, it’s very difficult to detect sarcasm at times, and not just through text. Look at the time our president, a master of sarcasm, delivered a devastatingly sardonic riposte to the press that disinfectants could be injected into the body, or bright light shone into the lungs to clean the body of Covid, and he was actually taken by many as being serious! Stupid lamestream media.

If TPTB can’t solve the 10K max posts problem, this thread will be a rare surviving megathread, since it happens to have about 9K posts. That’s reason enough to keep it going!

I had already found it, and bookmarked it. But I don’t go there very often. It’s depressing and infuriating, to see a daily list of new “what the fuck did he do this time”. Daily. With no repercussions to him or his flunkies. Every day there’s a LIST of NEW shit.
Trump authorizes the government to enforce an existing law-
*I have authorized the Federal Government to arrest anyone who vandalizes or destroys any monument, statue or other such Federal property in the U.S. with up to 10 years in prison, per the Veteran’s Memorial Preservation Act, or such other laws that may be pertinent…This action is taken effective immediately, but may also be used retroactively for destruction or vandalism already caused. There will be no exceptions!
I did not know about the law, this is what it says - The Veterans’ Memorial Preservation Act allows for fines and a prison term of up to 10 years for “attempts to injure or destroy, any structure, plaque, statue, or other monument on public property commemorating the service of any person or persons in the armed forces of the United States.”
I see an obvious problem with the applicability of that statute to statues of Confederate military officers and officials.

I just want to point out that smithsb nailed it with this prediction on June 12.
Because on June 20, Barr indicated that Trump himself had fired the NY attorney, Berman.
Shortly afterwards, Trump invoked the “It wasn’t me” defense:

Of course, even Trump’s pathetic attempt to weasel out of responsibility was subsequently shown to be a lie. He’s like a pathetic school child who cannot even lie very well when he’s caught red-handed.
I propose that picture as his official portrait that will be hung by the next president.
