I can picture an alternate reality, where Hilary Clinton eked out a narrow victory last November. In the time since then, losing candidate Trump has been fending off increasing stories of collusion between his staff and the Russians, and launched increasingly bizarre twitter rants about rigged elections and voter fraud.
We the voting public would be looking at that sad spectacle, shaking our heads and saying “Whew! I can’t believe how close we came to electing that clown! Dodged a bullet, I guess!!”

Perhaps the era of duels was in response to one’s wife being denigrated by some idiot. Perhaps Joe should find a way to give Thrump a gloveslap. We know both parties are fully up and around at dawn. I guess the thing I don’t get (and maybe it’s already been discussed and I didn’t see it) is why the Mika tweet is suddenly the one that has pushed everyone over the edge. He’s been spouting hateful bile on Twitter for years and now all of a sudden people are saying “Whoa… That’s over the line”?
She’d have to be crazy to try, and then it wouldn’t be defamation.
That’s a good question. IMHO, it’s the combination of the viciousness of the attack, the “final straw” component, and the weird (and completely unsupported) bloody imagery. Trump has Issues.
I think we’ve been over the edge before, and as always, he pays no consequences for his behavior. Fortunately, as his popularity continues to seep away, the Republican agenda is mired in the muck along with him.
