Butter Truffles? (Chocolate, not Fungus)

So I’d like to make some truffles, but I don’t have any cream. But I do have three-quarters of a pound of butter. I realize that the result of mixing butter with melted chocolate couldn’t actually be called ganache, and it would certainly have a different texture but maybe it would still be tasty.

Any ideas?

Well, butter and semi-sweet chocolate baking squares make up the entire recipe for my favorite chocolate cake frosting. We eat any leftovers after letting it set up like fudge so I don’t see why you couldn’t use it to make truffle-like goodness. I’ve also made truffles with chocolate and sweetened condensed milk melted together. It is surprisingly good.

Thanks, Cub Mistress. I’ll try it and let you know how it turns out.
