Buying Shoes Online

Just as an FYI. 6pm is the outlet arm of Zappos. While shipping to you is free unlike Zappos they do not cover return shipping on returns for sizing reasons. The customer pays for return shipping.

I just got an order from 6pm.com - I’d never used them before, but they had shoes that fit Boy 2.0, that he likes, for $40 instead of the usual $100+ for his size Enormous Extra Wide, and THE sneakers that my husband had worn out, which he loved. Those were $60, but he paid over $125 for the original pair (after knee surgery, when I absolutely insisted that he go invest in really good shoes.)

Personally, I don’t buy many of my own shoes on line, because I am hard to fit (women’s size 9.5 or 10, wide toe, narrow heel, very high arch and instep. Ugh!)

I buy all of my clothes and maybe half my shoes online. I am between a 7 1/2 and an 8 in shoes and will usually order one pair in each size unless the online reviews provide a good indication on fit. Nordstrom has free shipping on orders and returns so I use them a lot for shoes.

I was gong to start a thread about this topic recently because a few pairs of my favorite shoes had given up the ghost.

Being in Japan, there are quite a few good brands, but hardly any good shoes in my size (not huge, just size 10 US (mens)). Which really sucks. Usually, I buy my shoes when I travel overseas, but i am very particular about what I buy.

The two pairs that have just given up the ghost were 17 and 10 years old respectively. (lol). they still both look really good on the surface because they were great brands (Church and R.M. Williams) and I took good care of them, but they have problems that can’t be fixed anymore.

I found two replacements (http://www.arthurknightshoes.co.uk/john-white/80/john-white-shoes-chelsea-ii-boots-black-polished and Kenneth Cole Reaction Casual boots for Men | Online Sale up to 63% off | Lyst) but, of course, because it’s international shipping I can’t return it. So that means I have to guess the size right the first time. Yes, I do mean ‘guess’, because if you read the reviews of these shoes, or your read their conversion charts, then you see that there is not consistency among advertised sizes.

So fuck it.

Shoeless Joe.
