"By the time I get to Phoenix...

…I’ll be drinking…"

Singer Glen Campbell arrested for drunk driving, hit and run, and aggravated assault on a police officer.

And will probably be singing “Gentle on My Hind” whilst he’s in the pokey.

Glen Campbell, didn’t he have a big band back in the 40s and 50s?

Who’s Glen Campbell?

Oh wait, I’m thinking of Glenn Miller. Still, who’s Glen Campbell?

Old country singer…dated Tanya Tucker when she was young…

that’s bout all I know

60s and 70s, people!

Glen had numerous hits, including Gentle On My Mind, Galveston, Wichita Lineman, and the aforementioned By The Time I Get To Phoenix.

Goodness, do I have to teach you guys EVERYTHING about music?

No…I know who Tany Tucker is…I can even sing Delta Dawn…give me some credit

Why the hell did I think George Straight did Galveston? Oy vey. . .

But after seeing your link with his haircuts lookin’ like that, I say lock ‘em up an’ throw away the key!!. Especially if he’s going to wear brown slacks with bellbottoms.

How sooooo yesterday.

And if it helps, I’ve never even been to Texas.

Not to mention “Rhinestone Cowboy.”

He also played with the Beach Boys for a brief little bit.

I saw video of Campbell in jail - he looked to be in pretty good shape and was in a very jolly mood.

He was also in True Grit (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0065126/).

Hot damn!

I’m taking a trip to Phoenix in January, and I was saving that very phrase for my thread title.

:: shakes angry fist ::

Could you please be a little more specific? That applies to about 1/2 the male population of Nashville.

Glen Campbell is an amazing 12-string picker.

I found it amusing that this happened on the day I was serving jury duty in downtown Phoenix, for a case that happened about a year and a half ago. Which means that I’ll be eligible again just in time for this to go to trial…

“We, the jury, find you guilty of the charge of driving under the influence, and recommend a sentence of 1 year in prison. We also find you guilty of inflicting ‘Rhinestone Cowboy’ on innocent people, and recommend a sentence of 30 years in prison.”
