Bye Bye U.S. Sugar

The State of Florida is buying up all of U.S. Sugars assets. Here is the story. Three hundred square miles of sugar cane land will hopefully become a natural resource instead of an environmental disaster. That’s my hopeful thought of the day.

I listened to the NPR story on this tonight, on the way home. It seems like the everglades is not just an evrionmental thing, but it could spell doom for 6 million people in South Florida if nothing was done to reverse the level. I don’t have the time right now to search, but it’s out there.

You have to feel sorry for people who thought their job/life was always gonna be secure, but times ain’t what they were even 5 years ago.

Here’s the link to the NPR story.

Well, they may fix that environmental disaster but they’ll balance it off by allowing oil drilling off the coast so we can have many more environmental disasters in our future.
