Caffeine in Various Sodas

Cecil says that “Dr Pepper contains 39.6 milligrams of caffeine in every 12 oz. can.”, but how much do other sodas (pepsi, coke, cherry coke, cherry pepsi, mt. dew, sunkist, surge, mello yello, etc.) contain (per 12 oz. can)?

This site lists the amount of caffeine in a lot of drinks.

According to this site, here’s what you want to know, per 12 ounces.

pepsi, 38 milligrams
coke, 34 milligrams
cherry coke, 34 milligrams
cherry pepsi, ?
mt. dew, 55 milligrams
sunkist, 40 milligrams
surge, 51 milligrams
mello yello, 53 milligrams

wow. everyone used to make out that surge was the most caffeinated soda ever. but i guess they were wrong.

Looks like Jolt Cola is the winner in the caffeine department, weighing in at 71.5 milligrams. Do they still make Jolt? I haven’t seen it in awhile, but then I never think to look for it.

Does anyone know why there’s such a big discrepancy between “Coca Cola” and “Coca-Cola Classic” in the first two cites? Aren’t those the same product?

Diet Mr. Pibb/Sugar-free Mr. Pibb also seems to vary by a large amount, as does Royal Crown Cola/RC Cola.

Here’s another list:

Indeed they do still make Jolt. You can even order it over the net, although the shipping cost is pretty heinous.

I remember seeing lists such as those posted above while in college. It still seems strange to me that Sugar Free Mr. Pibb has more caffeine than Mountain Dew, while regular Mr. Pibb is down there with the other colas.
