better buzzzzzzzz

I have heard many different opinions about this, but which has the most caffine…coffee, tea or soda?

This has probably been asked and answered before but since I just happened to stroll this way with an answer handy…
[ul]
[li]Typical drip-brewed coffee contains 100 mg per 6-ounce cup. If you are buying your coffee at Starbucks or a convenience store or drinking it at home or the office out of a mug or a commuter’s cup, you are consuming it in 12, 14 or 20 ounce containers. You can calculate the number of milligrams based on your normal serving size.[/li]
[li]Typical brewed tea contains 70 mg per 6-ounce cup.[/li]
[li]Typical colas (Coke, Pepsi, Mountain Dew, etc.) contain 50 mg per 12-ounce can. Things like Jolt contain 70 mg per 12-ounce can.[/li]
[li]Typical milk chocolate contains 6 mg per ounce.[/li]
[li]Anacin contains 32 mg per tablet. No-doz contains 100 mg per tablet. Vivarin and Dexatrim contain 200 mg per tablet.[/li][/ul]

From HowStuffWorks.

[ul][li]Penguin Mints contain about 16 mg caffeine per mint.[/li][/ul]

Mountain Dew contains signifigantly more caffeine than the average soda. I think it is around 70mg a can. Canadian Mountain Dew, however, is caffeine free.

My understanding is that while coffee has the highest average caffeine content, tea has a higher variation, so if you’re looking for the biggest buzz you should probably be looking at the teas with the highest caffeine content. If, however, you’re faced with the choice between coffee in general, and tea in general, coffee would be “better” (I put that in quotes because I really don’t see the attraction for caffeine).

No it doesn’t.
Mountain Dew 37 mg (8 oz. serving) 55 mg (12 oz. serving). You got that Canadian thing right.

National Soft Drink Association,

From a HPLC lab I did in college…

Of the 5 or so sodas we tested, Diet Dr. Pepper had the most caffiene, more than Mountain Dew (I don’t recall the other sodas, but I think it was Coke, Diet Coke, Pepsi)

We didn’t test Jolt.

tinker001, I’m closing this thread because it’s an old one. Zombie threads scare the hamsters.
