A coworker just told me that caffeine (in particular the amounts found in coffee) dry out your ligaments thereby making them stiff. Is this at all true? The sites I’ve seen regarding caffeine all refer to increased heartbeats and dramatic metabolism swings, but nothing about ligaments…
It’s been passed around as 'they say caffeinne afects your joints…"
…or ‘soda is bad for ligaments’…or ‘citric acid is bad…’
You won’t find anything because there is no evidence to support the claims. They are rooted in rumor.
Blue light is bad for your toe nails. That’s what I heard. Try to research it and let me know what you find.
Blue light? Really…
Yes. Go into K-Mart and ask the salespeople to take off their shoes. You’ll be amazed at how many refuse.
Dries out your ligaments?
Heh.
Hee hee.
Tee hee hee hee.
BWAH HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA!!!
Your cow-orker has been seriously sucking exhaust fumes to believe that nonsense. Praytell, just what does she think the specific biochemistry of this process might be? Does it interact with sodium pumps or potassium pumps?
In essence, your cow-orker’s claim is a bunch of fetid bollocks. It’s rubbish, crap, errant nonsense, tripe, preposterous whimflabbery and a monumental pile of crepusculent flibbery.
There is no evidence in any non-crackpot source that indicates that caffeine targets any connective tissue at all. Likewise, the “dehydration” effect of caffeine (via diuresis) has been grossly overstated by that great class of disposable morons who inhabit the popular press.
