She’s around–I think she’s doing National Novel Writing Month for the first time this year, which kind of makes you forget about anything else you were supposed to do.
Hi everyone!
I haven’t been around - real life intrudes!
Mmmm, a cakey MMP. I can’t knit, so I have no comment other than when I watch other people knit, they make it seem so easy. I’ve tried a few times, but I have a horrible case of fumble-fingers.
And a sad Monday morning it tis… A Central Florida Icon has burned ![]()
jad, you baked an excellent OP. I’ll have a slice, please. ![]()
Oh, don’t be such a knit picker! ![]()
I don’t got much else.
Tupug
Since everyone else is afraid to name the companies, I will not name them directly either… but rather… you might be interested in following this link.
I hadn’t heard the part about the same yarn being available for cheap in craft stores. I sure as hell can’t find anything but Red Heart Acrylic and fun fur, in the craft stores around here.
Sew sue me…
Well, now you’re just being crochety.
And tat’s too bad.
Methinks this MMP is unravelling. Stop needling one another-darn it!
::runs screaming from the thread:: aaauuuurrrrggghhhhh!!!
Good morning everyone. That was a yummy OP, Jahdra. The cake sounds delicious.
FCM, those were some lovely pots. I liked the bluish/raspberry pots.
MIL is still in the hospital. She may get to go home today. We shall see. She had a pretty rough day yesterday. Additionally, they didn’t take her off oxygen until yesterday.
She’s still very weak. While we were visiting on Saturday, Mr. Taters and the kids took off to get some food for MIL and us. MIL took this opportunity to go use the bathroom. The bathroom is maybe five steps from her bed. At any rate, the trip to the bathroom exhausted her. I mean, she was completely wiped out. I’m glad they kept her longer.
Nava, grats on the new job. I’m with Draelin, you will, of course, be required to send us chocolate. I like dark chocolate.
I should get some work done now. I didn’t have time to stop for coffee, so I need to get some of that too.
It is really November here. We are expecting anywhere from 3 to 10 inches of rain…TODAY. That is a lot of freakin’ rain. Needless to say, there will be flooding.
Great job news, Nava - can I put in a request for a white chocolate cuckoo clock?
Taters, sorry to hear MIL is still feeling bad, I’d better tell Ophie to start pedalling again.
It’s an hour and a half until hometime, my throat’s really sore, my head hurts and I never want to see another sheet of address labels again. Bah!
Fumble fingers? Aren’t you a paramedic?
Man. Spats is gonna have a field day when he reads this thread. His pun of the day better be a real purl to top these.
Oddly that never crossed my mind, but if I were more the civic-lesson type I might have done just that. And beamed a nice Monday Morning Smile when greeted with her evil eye.
I’ve had regular bus trips to work like that – for several years. I’m fortunate now in that my current job is about a 15-minute bus ride. I have to admit though I kinda miss reading on those longer trips, though. (I can’t just read for 15 minutes. When I read I like to be able to devote a good block of time so I can really get into the story)
CAKE! CAAAAKE! I like cake. Good work, Jahdra. ![]()
Speaking of cake, I just came across this article. Apparently some mathematicians have discovered the perfect way to cut cake to make everyone happy. Another of the world’s great dilemmas solved. Here’s a pun
I have it on good authority that Meeks spent this past weekend immersed in Final Fantasy 12. rosie, I like the idea of experimenting with the tiny bottles, thank you. ![]()
Weave reached a state of punvana. It has me in stitches. ![]()
Oh, and just to introduce the topic of novelty cars, I want one of these. Delightfully eccentric, just like me.
I want to bake a cake befor work. Jahdra, you are a bad influence.
Does anyone know where Sampiro’s story about his mother’s death is located? I’ve been searching, and I can’t find it. I know he didn’t start the thread, but I don’t know who did.
I’m an EMT, not a paramedic. Although I plan on taking IV-Tech after the first of the year. I’m just not good at the real girly-girl stuff. I can cross-stitch, though. Knitting is beyond me.
And I’m halfway to being a firefighter! I passed my midterm!
Tonight we do a practical on Forcible Entry. That means we get to bash in doors and windows. (I’m such a tomboy!)
You know, I logged on early this morning to say hello to all and a great job Jahdra, but didn’t do anything until just now. I was busy messing with our database of customers, trying to figure out who I need to send Christmas cards to.
Some joker (or idiot - could go either way) put Trans World Airlines into same database as a customer. Didn’t they go under about 10 or 20 years ago?
I hate Mondays! I hate them even more than Garfield does becuase Garfield doesn’t have to go to SCHOOL. I was going to say there’s not one good thing about Mondays, but I guess the MMP counts as a good thing. even if it does continue through the week, thus making it not exclusively a Monday thing.
Also, I’m in a bind. I have zero dollars and I have to take the bus home. And it’s raining, so I don’t even really want to walk. I’m being the annoying friend and begging people for quarters or rides. So far, no luck. bitches. I would (and do, fairly regularly) give THEM quarters. I will figure it out by the end of the day. Or else I’ll just walk and get wet and get in trouble, but get home.
Jahdra- chances are pretty good you’re already acquainted with a wonderful thing called wacky cake, but in case you aren’t, it doesn’t require eggs or butter.
Mindfield, I’m a brat. I usually do the same thing on the bus- except not in the frontmost seats. I do it in the back. one one of the front-facing seats. But I put my backpack on the seat next to me or curl up and put my feet up next to me… I scootch over if the bus starts filling up, but I think I’d be a little indignant too if there was room elsewhere on the bus and someone scootched me over instead of just taking one of the free seats.
Congodwarf, that’s hilarious! I hope you’re feeling better. It’s a good thing you have a boss who can laugh at you and not be all, “weeeelllll, can’t you walk? are you seriously telling me you’re going to be late for work becuase you can’t find your keys? can’t you take the bus? call a taxi?”
BiblioCat, this is like probably the stupidest question anyone has ever asked in the history of mankind, but what exactly is the difference between an EMT and a paramedic?
one word - Training. My nephew went from being an ambulence driver to an EMT to a Paramedic and now he’s a certified instructor, thinking about going for his NP degree.
Nope, not a stupid question. It varies from state to state, but here in Maryland the certification levels are First Responders (basic first aid), EMT-B (basic), EMT-I (which means you’re an IV-Tech), and EMT-P (paramedic). EMT-Bs are one step up from the First Responders, who pretty much just have first aid. I can administer just a few drugs, mainly helping a patient with their own drugs, if they are unable to take them. I can do asthma meds, epi-pens, nitro, glucose, and charcoal. Paramedics can administer other drugs on their own (like narcan for ODs) and even more with a medical consult from the hospital. They can also start IVs and intubate.
I can use the AED (automated external defibrillator), but the First Responder can’t.
Great OP, Jahdra! I’ll take a piece of the cake, too, if there’s any left.
Taters, I’m sorry to hear MIL isn’t recovering as quickly as you had hoped, but at least the hospital is keeping her until she is well enough to go home. I have seen people sent home too soon and end up having to be re-admitted. This way is much less stressful.
BiblioCat, I can cross-stitch and used to do crewel work, but the yarn related stuff has always been beyond me. Don’t feel alone. I wish I got to hack on doors and windows - it sounds like fun.
Congo, I hope you feel better soon. I know dental pain and have had a jaw infection from an abcessed tooth, and I really feel for you. But baby food? Ewwwwwwwwwww.
I guess I need to get moving - I need to get a stack of newpaper in the recycling bin and get the litterboxes cleaned - trash day is tomorrow. We have the Coach’s Show tonight and and executive board meeting of the Booster Club afterward. I don’t think there are any major problems to deal with this time. I hope.
