Cake and Cashmere (Or Not) - A Crafty MMP

<snerk>

Leave it to Spats to pick out the dirty pun.

Clocksucker.

:stuck_out_tongue:

Awwww! People are thinking about me. I always love being loved, never got enough as a kid.

I’ve been around. I lurked somewhat last week but I just wasn’t in an MMP mood so didn’t post much. And Spats is right, I spent nearly the whole weekend playing FF 12.

I am up to 8499 words on my NaNoWriMo, so I’m getting there, too. I figured after 6 days I should be up to 10,200 so I am a little behind but plan to tie that up easily.

Silly, of course we love you Mika.

What can I say, it’s a gift.

Shifthead.

:stuck_out_tongue:

I missed it - tell me, tell me!

Thanks, Spats!

Bobbio, I missed it, too!

so, a woman with kids who works behind the scenes on adult movies is a mother fluffer?

Oh, and gratuitous beefcake. That was taken the next night (Halloween, and my gear was still wet. Yuuu-uuuck…

The “Pineapple Express” has hit us hard. Flooding EVERYWHERE. People being rescued EVERYWHERE. Road closures, standing water, accidents EVERYWHERE.

The route I take home has been closed, which really screws up my commute.

MIL has been released from the hospital, and, fortunately, my mother was there to take her home. I’ll find out tonight if I need to stay at MIL’s house and take the day off tomorrow.

Now, now. No need to get teste.

There was a red moon rising tonight as I came come and walked over to get coffee. Not quite red, more a rusty sort of colour. It was still quite pretty and went well with the wonderfully mild day we’ve had – we got up to 14ºC today under sunny skies. Pretty sweet for an early November day. Pity I had to be stuck at work during it – but this Saturday, Memorial Day, promises to be about as nice.

The bus trip home found two kids in the back two-seaters each taking up both seats on either side, one with his backpack, and the other with her couture purse. I knew where I decided I’d sit, and though I made obvious movement towards said seat, no consideration was forthcoming from the fashion queen. So I made to sit down on it. That produced the desired result. She spent the rest of the bus trip pointedly sitting with her back to me. Hmpf.

My mall still hasn’t decked itself out in its Christmas attire. It’s late this year. I don’t really like their decorations, though. The colour scheme is more carnival clown than Saint Nick. There’s the usual reds and greens and yellows, but thrown in there are slashes of mauve and teal. The silver and gold fleck the banners in large squarish confetti-like shapes. It’s festive – if the festivities are child’s birthday – but it just doesn’t say Joyeux Noël. Still, they really ought to get on the ball – most of the stores begun hanging their yuletide cheer. Heck, The Bay is completely decked out.

Me, too. Just eat the damned thing already–or not, whatever (I don’t like cake, much).

Whew - I’m pretty late today. Lessee - I moved out of my cubicle at work today, and according to my boss, I’ll be in the new one within 2 weeks. They’re supposed to have it all figured out by then. We shall see. I finally got the last part of my project signed off - just a week later than I’d hoped. But the jerk of the naval officer who’s been the thorn in my side wanted me to change it again. Mostly because he’s stupid - he seemed incapable of reading what I wrote to explain the table of figures. He was trying to add up numbers that aren’t added. I think he knew I was pissed - he left. Then I left.

Speaking of black kitchen counters - one of our remodels in our house on the lake in FL was to make our kitchen black and white. White appliances and cabinets, black countertops and floor. And a little bit of red for accent. It was a great kitchen! The woman who bought it from us removed the wallpaper that had the red accents and put up paper with fruits on it. sheesh

**SCL ** - the kitty bank has had its initial firing and it’s in the basement waiting for glaze. It’s a home project, not a class project.

We had crablegs for dinner - I stopped to get milk and I saw they had legs on sale. Yum! And we finished the last of the birthday cake. <sigh> Which sorta brings us back to the OP. Plus I knit.

Are you involved in the great yarn conspiracy FCM?

I am officially sick of coca cola floats. I must made a hunnert of ‘em in a two hour period. ICK! ACBG is workin’ late (matter of fact I just talked to him, he’s home but has paper work to finish up poor thing!) so I stopped at Booger King and grabbed me a sammich to eat. I took a shower to wash the glop of hair gel I used to slick back my hair earlier today. I also took a sleepy pill and in just a few minutes am going to lie my behind down on da bed cause it’s startin’ to kick in.

Nitey nite!

Swampy, how do you make an elephant float?

Two scoops of ice cream, root beer, and an elephant…

Hee…all those puns made me giggle. Kept wondering when **Sean **was going to show up, since I know how much he enjoys them.

Prayers and good thoughts for your minister, taxi. And still thinking about your MIL, too, Taters.

Glad to see all those missing people wander by. Hi to BibKitty, Dotster, and Meeks!

Congrats on the new job, Nava! Sounds like fun. I’ll third the demand for chocolate (or fourth, does the white chocolate clock count?). Dark, also.

So where do you sit between today and when you get your new place to sit, FCM?

Hi kai! Glad to hear the renovation is coming along. Can Jeff come and work on my house when he’s done at yours?

Mmmmm, brownies with sour cherries. Yum. I make them with dried sour cherries and almonds (I just add to a mix) and that always turns out yummy.

Those kids sound like some of the kids who live in the condo where my Mom lives, LiLi. Highly spoiled, considered by their parents to be angels, and really ranging from annoying to malicious. The original crop of malicious kids has long since grown up and/or left, but it sounds like the next crop might be getting ready to bloom. Bro and I will have the joy of checking them out at Christmas and making sure that my big imposing cousins stop by and make clear that they don’t get to bully mom. I really like the work camp idea.

Dinner tonight was cold sesame noodles (with ginger and garlic and stuff). I was really craving them and managed to remember to get fresh ginger at the grocery after my haircut. I’ll be having them for lunch tomorrow, too. Oh, and I had grapes for dessert (cuz they’re a nice contrast to the noodles).

Gotta read some election stuff so that I know how I’m going to vote on everything in the morning…

Brownies?

And cherries?

Cherry brownies?

Oh my. I just had dinner, but that is something I could really get into for dessert.

Speaking of dinner, I made hamburgers. I, uh … well … they didn’t exactly, um … turn out. Lacking breadcrumbs and/or eggs, I tried shaving some fresh bread as breadcrumbs. And I added HP sauce. Probably a bit too much, I suspect, because in cooking the hamburgers, they sort of became … well, not quite hamburgers, exactly. More on the order of fluffy salisbury steaks. And by “fluffy” I mean “a loosely packed collection of meat particles.” It just didn’t hold together very well and the meal was … adventurous.

It tasted good, though, but my shame at failing to properly make hamburgers – which I am ordinarily quite good at making, I assure you – is significant.

There was also a phone call. The caller ID said “Curch of Jesus.” I’m not sure what a “curch” is or why it felt the need to contact me, but I thought it best to let the machine get it. It didn’t leave a message, so I guess it wasn’t important.

Hey! I picked up the phone today and guess who it was?

you’ll never guess.
It was Bill Clinton. Yep, Bill and I, we go waaaaaay back. I chatted with him for a bit, but he seemed to only want to tell me to get out and vote.

He always did like to dominate our conversations.

Bill called me last night. Sadly I failed to pick up the phone, so we didn’t get to chat. He did leave a message, though, the beginning of which sounded all polite like. Sadly, it went the way of all robocalls: delete.

Could be worse. You could be getting reminders to vote that threaten criminal action if you don’t, like Pubbies did in Virginia.

For two nights in a row I’ve had shills for the FOP calling me, at 9:00 at night. If someone calls me that late it had better involve blood loss - from someone I like. I told them they needed to do their begging at more reasonable hours. Mr. SCL gets up at 5am and works 7 to 7, so I don’t need the phone ringing when he’s in bed. I don’t donate to telephone solicitors anyway.

I am very full from dinner at the Coach’s Show. Mr. SCL has gone to the river for the night so Magic and I will have the bed all to ourselves.
