Cal. Assemblywoman says she knows why her state is in a drought.

God is punishing us Californians for electing idiots like her.

And dammit, we deserve it.

As I was opening this thread, I just knew that it was going to be something extremely stupid. Not disappointed …

I wonder what she is going to blame on the fact we have no money?

No no no. Abortions cause sink holes. Think about it – it’'s only logical.

Alone? Of course no fear whatsoever, but I’m talking about the damage that they are doing in a group. “Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups”*.

  • Not from George Carlin, the origin of that line is not clear.

“Your people, sir,—your people is a great beast!”

That little bitch Al Hamilton.

Well speaking of religious politicians and power, what I want to know is; should we really have technology millionaires if computers aren’t mentioned in the bible?

Fortunately, Republicans in power in California have become a fairly small group. We haven’t elected a single one to statewide office for a while now, and they can barely get 1/3 of the legislature in a good year. Loonies like Ms. Grove really can’t do too much harm here.

Preach it. There’s supposed to be a hefty rain cloud over everyone who has never had an abortion in CA, and a permanent dry spell over those who have.

Duh.

This is not accurate; not all Christian sects believe in a benevolent and/or loving god. For instance, Southern Baptists have consistently told me that they do not believe in a loving god; they believe in a just god.

But swapping “loving” with “just” doesn’t change the contradiction.

If a judge sentenced a criminal’s neighbors to prison for allowing him to sin, we wouldn’t call him a “just” judge.

So… We’ve got a street party happening next weekend, and it’d be really nice to get some dry weather for it. Reckon the morning after pill would be enough?

If so, um, I need a male volunteer…?

Alexander Hamilton did not say that. This review of Stephen F Knott’s Alexander Hamilton & The Persistence of Myth repeats the origin of the oft-repeated canard.

I find The Addams Family more congenial than The Adams Family.

The book is pretty interesting–it traces the rise, fall & rise again of Hamilton’s reputation. Which is generally mirrored by Jefferson’s reputation. TJ’s not looking too good lately–& not just because of Sally. Ron Chernow’s biography of Hamilton opened a lot of eyes–including Lin-Manual Miranda’s. Whose modern musical Hamilton played to sold out crowds Off-Broadway & opens on Broadway this summer.

The bigger question? This Texan is quite aware of the dire results when the sane people don’t bother to vote. Guess California isn’t immune.

Well, then, are we to revise our opinion of said little bitch and enshrine him next to other stalwart and enthusiastic champions of democratic equality?

Baby pumping welfare sponges?

All the money is going to pay for abortions, obviously.

I like him better than Jefferson, the supreme hypocrite & champion of States Rights. In those days, “stalwart and enthusiastic champions of democratic equality” were thin on the ground.

Profit? My cousin’s hubby works for the ACLJ, and won’t shut up about “the abortion industry”. Maybe that’s what he’s talking about…

There’s surely a market for stem cells, but I’m not sure what other parts are mature enough for sale as replacement parts.

Well, in Biblical terms the solution to a drought is obvious: Find some surviving Baal-worshipers and have them hold a contest with some rabbis.

Would Wiccans do in a pinch?
