California ISP?

Hi there -

I have a friend who’s looking for an ISP in California to provide a reliable modem connection.

Are there any ISPs that can be recommended by Californians here?

Thanks.

(Apologies if in the wrong section.)

I cast my vote for Earthlink. I have used Earthlink in several states and I was always very pleased with their service.

This thread should probably have been in “In My Humble Opinion” IMHO

I used DSLExtreme Dialup before I switched to their DSL service. $13 per month (cheaper if you choose to prepay 3, 6, or 12 months in advance). 10 email addresses (25 MB each) .

LAFN provides dial-up internet access throughout California for $50 a year (K-12 students can get free accounts). It’s basically unlimited use. However, you’re limited to 1, 2, or 4 hour “sessions” depending on the time you initially connect, but there’s no limit on the number of times you can connect. Read their user guide for more details. I used LAFN a few years ago, and it performed like any other dial-up ISP.

Whenever I go visit back home, my laptop connects to Earthlink exceedingly well. And there are plenty of phone numbers to pick from.

That’s another Earthlink feature I forgot to mention. I could travel all around the US and still have my same Earthlink access. Probably true of a few others too, like AOL (gag).

Thanks for the comments - much appreciated.

Where in Calif? I use redshift.com they are around most of the state.

They have dialup, dsl, etc.

Find an ISP in any part of the US.
