All I’ll say about season 2 (which I just finished watching from Netflix) is it starts off pretty shitty but more than redeems itself after the first couple of episodes.
I read somewhere that Californication should have been a 1 season mini-series about Hank winning back his soulmate. I’ve enjoyed all 3 seasons but I agree with that sentiment. It was a really good really complete story. I’m glad it’s still going but part of me always is thinking that it should have ended.
That’s also one of the biggest drawbacks of the show after season 1. There’s no where else to go with Natascha McElhone’s character and I don’t feel anything they have done with her has been better than if they’d magically made her disappear. Hank is a really interesting character, most of the supporting cast are really interesting characters and the stories are weird and outrageous but fun to watch. Natascha McElhone’s character is just a really dull anchor weighing everything down. Their stupid daughter character is slightly less aggravating but I wish she disappeared too.
I love Californication, even the daughter. I didn’t come into it until season two, only seen a few episodes from season 1 but I really find it hilarious. The agent character is hilarious, so was the recent cameo by a very scary Kathleen Turner.
What d’you mean, “even the daughter” ? Becca is awesome ! OK, so she’s turned into a bit of a bitter bitch lately. Still - if I had a daughter, I’d want her to be as sassy, witty and funny. And though she can’t (pretend to) play her guitar worth a damn, her singing voice is tops !
