Call of Duty: Black Ops

I tend to play Free-For-All.

I work funny hours, so I’m usually on at times when potential cod-playing friends wouldn’t be.

Wow - I got the email that my box had arrived at the repair center, AND the email saying it was being shipped back to me - both in the same day!

Still had to pay, though - I was WAY past the warranty extension for the 3/4 RROD.

Either way it’s ok - the box was a gift from my sister, anyways!

That being said, I was called a cocksucker by a teammate today, because I didn’t revive him before I got killed. lol

Anyone play any of the new maps yet? I played Berlin Wall once, and sadly got stuck on Stadium a few times today. I’m not a big fan of that map, it’s HUGE or at least feels that way.

I’ve been having a good time shooting down planes with my LAW. Still not sure how to get the strela to lock on, dang it.

Well, stop being a cocksucker.

Nah, that’s pretty shitty. If you have a crew you run with, that makes it best.
Haven’t touched the new maps. I’m not paying $15 for them if I can help it.
With the Strela, hold the crosshairs over the target while aiming down sight. You’ll get three tones. Fire after the third one.

What does it mean when one of the teams has two players with something like:

BitchBoy
BitchBoy(1)

Can you play slit screen Live?

Yep. You can play with one account or two.

Is there any reason why they had to make TWO of the four new maps snowbound maps? What on earth is the Call of Duty series obsession with snow maps?

I haven’t looked at the new map pack yet, but do at least two of the maps consist of huge wide open sniper fields? Cause I love those.:smiley:

I’d say that two of them are decent enough for sniping, which is a somewhat nice change of pace from the rest of the maps in the game. I’ve found that the only decent sniping map before was Array.

Really? You thought that Stadium was big? I always feel like it’s smaller than it should be. I haven’t played much TDM on that map. I know domination feels small there.

I like Kowloon, but I always feel like there’s someone shooting me from some crazy angle. Kill streaks are rare for me there.

Discovery is maybe my favorite. The side paths and chokepoints are good.

RE: The new DLC

I really like Kowloon, I loved the office skyscraper level in MW2 and the dramatic scene really makes for a good game.

Berlin Wall is ok, it’s different and since I almost exclusively play Domination I’m not a huge fan of the Control Point B bottle neck, but those of you who like Crushed will probably be fans.

Discovery and Stadium, despite playing for 5 hours yesterday these maps never came up.

…come to think of it I really don’t have much to say yet and have just wasted my and now your time…

So, going with an assumption that each Black Ops sequel would cover a different decade (dunno if that’s actually true, but it’s something someone said on a forum somwhere so let’s roll with it), what songs would you want from each decade?

I was going to say “All Along The Watchtower”, but it seems that that was a 60’s song in both the Bob Dylan and the Jimi Hendrix version. Bummer that it didn’t turn up in the first game, but I guess it’s been done to death lately.

So, while I think of my new answer, what songs would you want to see from different decades, assuming they go with that approach?

Another video of my play. Not very interesting to watch, but meh, might get a few more views by posting the link.

Array is one of two maps I use an assault rifle on (for a while it was the only map. Recently I started using an Assault on Launch because it has some nice opportunities for long distance kills)

I would use an Assault rifle more often, but I am too fond of the extra escape speed I get from using an SMG.

Array almost plays like two maps in one. If you stay outside, you’re best with an assault rifle (by the way, try the reflex sight with the Commando. It acts like the M4/ACR from Modern Warfare 2).

Also, because I’m burned out on Halo, I’ve decided I’m actually going to take this game seriously.

I’m in Afghanistan until April, so no COD for me until then. Have they fixed the PC crashing issue yet?

Mine doesn’t crash, so I guess they have. Despite what you might hear about how well supported PC and PS3 versions have been compared to XBOX, the PC version has been well looked-after in my experience. I guess PS3 owners have it worst.

Well, before I left, my game froze up pretty regularly. I played after the first patch and it was better, but not great.

I ended up with a couple of game-stopping bugs the first time I played it, sadly, this meant I got frustrated and just read a plot summary of the game. Had a couple of the big plot reveals ruined for me too.

Are you kidding!? With that Veitnam stuff you have to go with Gimme Shelter.

What eras in particular? At least the multiplayer maps are pretty amorphic.

Though since Tropic Thunder I can’t get enough of ‘Name of the Game’ for a war movie.

About 1/3 of the matches either crash, migrate, or reload when I’m playing on PS3, but you get used to it.

I have almost completely given up on anything other then TDM. Its just to hard to find a balanced match. It would be better if they had more “mercenary” game modes, then just TDM.

Well, since the first game (well, strictly speaking, the second game, but it’s only kind of a sequel to World At War, which didn’t really have a plot, but I digress) covered the 60’s, roughly from the beginning to the end of the decade, I’d say we’d just pick songs from each decade.

Trying to pick songs from the beginning, middle, and end of the 70’s, I can think of these:

“War” by Edwin Starr. Could actually work as a theme song or a credits song.

“Play That Funky Music” would be a great vehicle mission song, something for one of those “breather missions” where you’re just unwinding a bit before the game kicks into the final act (like the boat ride in Black Ops)

Not sure about late 70’s though. Don’t think “You’re The One That I Want” really thematically fits the CoD franchise.
