Call of Duty: Black Ops

Does friendly, or your own napalm strike cause damage to yourself? I’ve only just started using it, and have been a bit wary of a) moving near the fire and b) calling it in too near to my position.
edit: One of the reasons I don’t like objective game modes is that when I tried them in MW2 I would always be picked off by people camping the objective. It was all frustration and no fun. FFA on the other hand was difficult and challenging, but once you got killed by a camper you could just avoid that area.

Having said that - I did have to play demolition to earn ninja pro. It hurt my kd but I did ok. Didn’t take me long to get my 15 plants.

Nice!

No, in non-hardcore variants, friendly napalm fire won’t kill you.

I just remembered my third perk (I know you all weren’t going to be able to sleep tonight, if I didn’t): the tactical insert. I love respawning somewhere behind their flag and then wreaking havoc.

Tac insert is equipment.

You are right, my third perk is the one that lets you get your killstreak rewards earlier.

Hardline.

That’s it. I’m jonesing to play, but I’m in Afghanistan and my gaming computer is in the US. As an unarmed aid worker here, firefights tend to be short and depressingly one-sided.

Good luck, fella. Hope you come back nice and safe to Blops…until the next stupid Call of duty game comes out.

Pick your reticle up. Put it where you’re going, dammit.

But, your own Napalm Strike will kill you. Or mortar team. Haven’t tried shooting myself running chopper gunner, but I would assume that would kill you as well.

That’s why, when running the Copper Gunner, it highlights you in green.

Decided to record some combat training…

Can you elaborate? I re-watched my video and my reticle was more or less pointing where I was going when it mattered (when aiming)

When not aiming, point it where you’re going. People love to run Ghost and run up on you when you have no clue they’re there.

Well…

I tend not to look at the minimap much. So whether someone is using Ghost or not doesn’t seem to make much difference to me.

Plus - wouldn’t I need to be using spyplane to cause there to be an advantage for people using ghost? I don’t have spyplane as one of my killstreaks.

And finally - I use ninja pro, so I can often hear them coming (without knowing precisely which direction - but just knowing they are near is often good enough)

The sound, which Treyarch made better, is still crappy. They explicitly tried to nerf a headphone advantage, calling it “Sound whoring”.

You should check your mini-map from time to time. Not everyone is running a silencer, you know. Even people that are running ghost aren’t necessarily running a silencer.

Do you mean run around looking through the sights? That’s only a good idea to do full-time if you have a pistol or SMG equipped. Otherwise the other weapons slow down your speed (it’s the “mobility” stat on a weapon).

Out of curiosity, what’s the attraction of playing non-Hardcore modes for people? I can’t get into the idea of someone taking a 7.62 NATO round in center of mass and then happily running off, or worse yet, dodging and shooting you.

Personally, I think they ought to get rid of Second Chance in hardcore myself.

I like Second Chance in Hardcore, but I’m not too blind to agree with you. When you can be in Second Chance and take someone down with a pistol shot from halfway across the map, that’s overpowered. That’s not supposed to be what the perk is for.

Why? Forgiveness.

The frustration in seeing a guy occasionally survive a sustained burst while he kills you more than compensates for the 16 kills in a row that the really good players lay on you when you can’t absorb any punishment at all. Getting endlessly, repeatedly devastated at a game tends to destroy the replay value. I’ll take some improbable scenarios if the game also lets me survive close calls.

I should have mentioned this in the previous post. Three simple words: “No team kills.”
