Call of Duty: Black Ops

I love it in theory, but in practice, people camp so hard in hardcore.

I’ve tried all of the game modes and while both Hardcore and Barebones have their charms the original team deathmatch is what I like the most I think. Friendly fire turns Hardcore into into Free for All for the most part. It’s probably more realistic, but even I will sometimes shank first and notice a teammate later when all I see is movement.

I really like WMD and Hanoi too, my least favorite by far is the one called ‘Chrushed’ I think. It has that ruined building in the middle and since I play Domination almost exclusively it’s just a meat grinder.

Speaking of maps.

Huh, I’d say that’s my third favorite. Lots of hidey spots in that one, plus it has reactive cars that noobs try to hide behind for the always gratifying Car Kill. I’ll admit that I stay far away from that Hill of Death in the middle except for the first 30 seconds of the game if anyone tries to actually just run over the middle since it’s easy kills.

Ugh. Three maps and one for zombies for $15. Think I’ll wait on that.

I only play hard core servers and it’s pretty much agreed upon that you don’t revive last chancers… I like watching them lay there like turtes.

And yes! Someone please answer interface2x’s question. What is that blue thing? It looks like a plus sign and a head of hair to me.

Already did. It’s scavenger. Also, it’s a vulture that’s on the icon.

I’ll take 'em when and if they ever hit the Wii. I like playing the game a lot and more maps sounds great. There’s discriptions of most of them in the Call of Duty Wiki, they seem like they’d be good maps.

Last night I was trying to get marathon pro by playing CTF. I captured 3 flags in the first ten minutes of playing… then no flags for the next hour of playing (I tried different servers)

I was using my lightweight/marathon/warlord pro/smg class. I was guessing the lightweight and marathon will help in CTF. Am I correct to think that? Or is there a better class setup for if your primary goal is captures (without getting horrible k/ds of course. I damaged my main blops kd by playing ctf)

That makes sense - I rarely use Scavenger and I rarely see this little thing.

Another reason why I couldn’t tell, I pretty much only play Hardcore. As a result, I don’t have a HUD that shows my ammo.

Personally, I love Hardcore. I hate it that it takes a shit ton of shots to kill someone normally. I prefer the “one shot, one kill” nature of Hardcore, even if that means I die in the same manner. Yeah, there’s a lot of camping but that doesn’t bother me too much.

I’d say my favorite maps are Hanoi, WMD, and Crushed, mostly because I’m familiar with Crushed and I like how everybody avoiding the building in the middle makes for a lot of confrontations at either end of the map (not to mention how people in the buildings AROUND the crushed building all think they’re being clover by camping there waiting for some noob to try and go through the crushed building. I’ve taken out two or three guys camping at windows in the same building that way.

Not to mention, the traditional “Lob eighty pounds of explosives in either direction over the middle building” that that map always starts with.

No love for Nuketown? My favorite map by a mile. Crisis is next, then WMD. I have bad luck in Hanoi, but I like Crushed for Domination, mainly because I camp and pick off the people trying to go for B (in the center of the buildings).

I play about 75% hardcore TDM and 25% Domination. I’m not that awesome a shot, but in hardcore, I do much better than in regular TDM. Especially with Second Chance Pro-- I’ve gotten longshots with my pistol numerous times.

Just unlocked the AK 47. Gonna be hard to prestige and give up that gun. I do really like the new system of buying attachments with the COD points. No more “10 kills with X, then 10 kills with Y”.

Nuketown is fun, but it gets old after a while because it’s so small.

I ended up with both PC and Wii versions. Haven’t run into any issues on the PC, and am going the the single player campaign on the PC first. If Call of Duty: World at War is anything to go by, twelve-year-olds will kick my ass in Wii MP.

Do you really find the “classic” controller easier to use than the wiimote & nunchuck? I could never play a FPS with my thumbs.

I wonder how an fps would be with the Wiimote. Personally, I like the controller. It’d take a lot of time for me to get used to a different controller scheme.

Well I’m new to the Wii. I hadn’t owned ancurrent gaming system for anoint time and bought Black Ops the same day we got the Wii. I tried it with the nunchuck and Wiimote and I couldn’t make it more than a minute in single player. I considered getting the gun thing, but Google found me the CCP and I picked it up the next day. I am much more comfortable that way since I’ve never played any real game on a PC, I’m a console guy since Atari.

Last night, I finally got Ghost Pro so for fun, I rendered a clip of my first Cobra take-down with it. Enjoy!

I like Nuketown. But I wish so many local servers weren’t taken up with “24/7 nuketown” games. A given server could be being used to provide more choice for those wanting to play map rotations, but they stick to Nuketown. I have nothing against 24/7 nuketown, I just wish there weren’t so many of them…

Load game.

Load server browser. (sorted by ping)

Oh there’s a low ping server… oh it’s 24/7 nuketown…

Oh there’s a rotating map server… ping not very good. :frowning:

Headshots seem screwed up today. I got a headshot by shooting an enemy in the back. And just a few minutes ago, my wife got a headshot by stabbing him.

And the TKing is off the charts, it’s almost impossible to through a grenade on that map without TKing.
