What’s TK ing?
Team Killing; AKA Friendly Fire. Killing people on your own team, either accidentally or deliberately (usually to be a dick).
Friendly Fire is disabled in the usual game mode but is enabled in Hardcore.
Team-killing.
Not hating on the game. It’s a helluva lot better than Modern Warfare 2. I’m just saying that I wouldn’t pay fifteen bucks for two or three maps. I’ll wait.
I still haven’t got the most recent Halo: Reach map pack.
The COD map packs are the biggest fucking rip off in gaming. I mean, BC2 came out with an entire expansion pack with different era/maps/modes/weapons/graphics/music etc for that price. And on top of that only 3 of the maps are new - they give you the priviledge of paying for maps they took 2 minutes to port over to the new game, since they required almost no alteration because the current game is just a fucking reskin of the last one.
Fucking $15 for Derp packs for Call of Derp: Durpty Durp De Durpity Durp.
Of course this is the sort of shit would’ve been available for free and with much wider content years ago before locked down “you can only buy our content” bullshit they’re doing to games now.
Eh. People are buying it. I can wait.

Old style 360 or the new style? Also, is it under warranty?
Even if it isn’t under warranty, call Microsoft anyway. A friend of mine just had his original-release 360 redring on him a few weeks ago and it’s way the fuck out of warranty and Microsoft is fixing it for free. Their public relations got such a serious hit when the whole red ring debacle exploded that now even if your 360 has some other issue (disc tray problems being a common one) just mentioning redring on the phone with costumer service will get you a free repair.
They’ll send you a box for you to pack up your 360 and you should get it back in like two weeks.
I’ll have to do this. It was a refurb that I bought - ironically 3 years to the day yesterday. It’s an old-style unit, out of warranty before I even bought it.
And if all else fails, the new 360’s are pretty freaking super. Much MUCH quieter (they have a big quiet fan on the top of the unit instead of a bunch of smaller ones), and with built-in wifi. Otherwise it’s still an XBox 360 of course and will run pretty much all the same stuff.
I noticed something odd this weekend, I’m getting credit for kills that I’m not sure that I’m making. They’re showing in the feed as gun kills that are happening while I’m respawning. I’m not complaining about free kills, but I think something is glitchy.
Something is glitchy, yes. Spawning is even worse than it was…I’ve seen enemies spawn directly in front of me (and I had Hacker, so I would have seen Tactical Insertion). I mean, it’s a free kill for me, but it doesn’t seem fair.
Over the weekend I finished a match about 500 XP short of Prestige, which I was bummed about, until the next match turned out to be a 39/6 monster.
Check the theater. See why the person died. Sometimes, weird shit happens, but you still get credit for the kill because, as I assume you’ll see if you look, you did it.
I’ll give that a shot when I get home, but there were a few times yesterday (I played probably 15 matches yesterday so there were plenty of kills going around) where I died without even getting enough action on someone for an assist and hadn’t planted my claymore or thrown a grenade either.
Bear in mind that theatre mode shows you what the server saw, so it’s not exactly the same as what you saw. I can’t explain the specifics but it’s quite common in theatre mode to see things that don’t look right, like a person shooting ‘behind’ another person and getting the kill. I’ve seen my own player do the ‘shooting behind’ thing in theatre, and distinctly remember being deadly accurately on target.
Is it possible you put them into last stand?
if you put someone into last stand you see no stat… but if they remain in last stand and nobody else finishes them off -you get the kill.
Happens to me all the time. I put someone in last stand, then get killed myself. ten seconds later I get 50 xp and the message saying I killed someone after I died.
I know when I see some chump go down and not stay down because he’s using Second Chance because I HATE Second Chance. It’s cheap and it allows someone else to swing by and steal my kill, most of my confirmations for that are for assists. Also since I don’t play on a PC I don’t think I have theatre. Guess I’ll just have to accept free kills and get killstreaks faster.
I’m pretty sure all versions have theatre mode.
Also, you might be glad to know there might be a modification to the way second chance works in an upcoming patch. I have heard rumours they plan to give you a kill credit if you put someone in second chance.
Having said that - Second Chance doesn’t bother me. It seems obvious and I don’t get why other people don’t do this - but I just fire at someone until I see the xp come up on my screen. I rarely mistake a second-chancer for a person killed, so I keep shooting at them til they die. And if I’m unlucky enough to get killed before I get the chance to finish them off - meh. There are worse things to get annoyed about in this game.
