This is my first posting on the SDMB. I have been mulling over buying a cell phone, but a good friend of mine has been warning me that cell phones are deadly. Specifically, he says they cause brain tumors. A few other people I have talked to have "heard about that, " but I can’t seem to find any kind of verifiable literature that supports this idea. My friend insists that phone companies are clamping down on any and all studies that indicate there may be a correlation between the two; the same way that cigarette companies kept quiet for decades the comnection between smoking and lung cancer. Does anyone know of any actual studies or scientific literature done on this subject, or is this just a lot of b.s.?
It’s just a lot of BS. It is possible that there is a connection, but so far all reputable studies have found no connection.
See for example The Skeptic’s Dictionary - the bottom half of this page is about cell phone studies, including this snippet from a report published in a reputable journal:
I expect Krispy to be along any moment to refute me.
I’d give my left buns-cheek for a Wally sig.
