The cellphone-cancer link: still dead

This report sneaked by me and I didn’t see any mention of it on the Dope - but an FDA review released last week shows no link between cellphone use and cancer. Or if you prefer, ‘‘insufficient evidence’’ of any link.

"…the FDA’s review of epidemiological studies — approximately 70 from the decade-plus time period examined in the report — showed no link between RFR exposure and the development of tumors.

The FDA said the issue with epidemiological studies in this area is that they “lack direct measurements of RF exposure outside of a laboratory setting” and instead rely on the study participant to track and self-report their own data. As a result, RF exposure data is an estimate in most epidemiological studies, according to the FDA.

“While some studies suggest a possible link between, for example, ‘heavy’ users of cell phones and some tumors, there is no clear and consistent pattern that has emerged from these studies and these studies were subject to flaws and inaccuracies,” according to the report.

“Based on the studies that are described in detail in this report, there is insufficient evidence to support a causal association between RFR exposure and tumorigenesis.”"

This is reassuring news. On the other hand, further speculation of a link is helpful to those of us who wish heavy public cellphone users would dial it down a notch. Still, there’s always 5G.

*of course, the FDA could be entirely in the pocket of Big Cellphone, Verizon and its fellow travelers, the medical establishment and the Masons.

Thanks for the update - was there supposed to be a link?

PS: your last para before the footnote (“This is…”) - amen to that.

The majority of people who die of cancer nowadays used a cell phone while they were alive. And the majority of people who use a cell phone will eventually develop cancer.

And the vast majority of both groups have eaten tomatoes in their lifetime.

I hate tomatoes. Do I get to live forever??

Nope. Everyone who has ever come in contact with dihydrogen monoxide has ended up dead at some point, and there is currently so much dihydrodgen monoxide on the Earth that you really can’t avoid it.

Meant to include this link:

Full report.

This.

Sarcasm. It is a difficult concept.
